12ga. SemiAuto Shotgun! What to get?
February 2nd, 2010 by eranio
I am looking to buy a 12ga. semi-auto shotgun that shoots 3 1/2 shells but I don’t want to break the bank and get the SBE2 or Xtrema2 and I def. don’t want the Remington SPR453 considering it isn’t really a Remington. Any suggestions?

I have a Remington 11-87 SPS Super Magnum in 12 gauge and I like it very much. I’ve never had a jam of any kind with it and I’ve put several hundred shells through it already.
I don’t normally use 3-1/2" shells for what I hunt with it, but it’s nice to know I CAN if needed. (Pass shooting high flying geese)

The Benellis and Berettas are overrated. I have shot both. Everyone loves them at first…but when you keep them for a few years, the aluminum receivers start to wear and the anodized paint will chip and peel off.
If you really want a 3.5" magnum, then go with the Remington 11-87. Remingtons are made in the USA and they use a steel receiver that will holdup much better than an aluminum receiver. Also, be sure to get the synthetic stock version. The wood stocks on the big super magnums will sometimes split and crack at the pistolgrip area, due to the heavy recoil of the gun.

I shoot a winchester super x3. My buddy shoots a charles dailey and I am totaly impressed with that gun plus they have a lifetime warranty. Mossberg has their 935 that is a decent gun
