AR Rifle or Semi-Auto Shotgun?
So after months of researching AR’s and narrowing down options and getting questions answered from you folks, I have run into a problem.
I have finally sold my Gibson Guitar and now have the K for the AR I wanted, which was an LWRC M6A2 5.56mm.
But I have now seen a gun that looks absolutely fun.
It is the Benelli M4 Shotgun.
The thing looks absolutely fantastic and is a Semi Auto.
I would be using this mainly for range and fun shooting.
I don’t hunt and with kids in the house, this thing would be stored so securely, that it would be useless for home defense since it would take me forever to get it out.
A buddy who has a few guns tells me to get the AR since it would be much funner. (Long and Short range capabilities)
He says I would get bored of the shotgun since it is mainly short distance blasting and since it is a short barrel it would not be good for skeet, trap etc…
Any Thoughts?

I would recommend that you purchase the ar 15. LWRC makes very nice rifle. It will be reliable, accurate, and very high quality. It will be more fun too shoot simply because of its long range capability, high capacity, and low recoil. It would also work well for defense. It wont work as well as a shotgun for home defense, but would be an excellent gun to have with you in case of a riot or natural disaster. You can reload which will allow you to shoot a lot for very cheap. There is also a large amount of surplus ammo available for .223 aka 5.56. The ar 15 is also very versatile. You can mount lasers, flashlights, vertical grips, scopes, etc.. Not saying that you cant on a shotgun, it is just easier on an ar15, especially because most of them come with rails. Don’t forget that you can change out the caliber of your ar just by switching the uppers. You can buy uppers in 22lr, 6.8 spc , 6.5 grendel, 410 gauge, 5.45×39, 5.7×28, and 50 beowolf. I attached links to some of these uppers. That will probably come in handy in case of an extreme ammo shortage.

auto shotgun takes no skill to shoot, the bullet just spreads. if you want to show skill and practice more get the AR rifle
go with the AR rifle
i do not think the AR is more fun. You can do a lot more with the AR but you will be having a LOT of fun with that benelli
You now understand why few of us own one firearm. Welcome to the world of expensive addictions. Buy a cheaper AR, kick in a few extra bucks and get the Benelli too. I’ve been admiring their MR 1 myself.
I have both a shotgun and rifle, the rifle is way better, it shot in close and far. and is more acc. then the shot gun by far.
I’m of the opinion everyone should own an AR15 but that is just me.
semi auto shot gun there extremely versatile you can pu a short barrel for home protection medium barrel for bird and a riffled barrel wich u can deer hog hunt with sabots and slugs and those can deter peskey crimanils permanently
if you do trap and skeet benelli that’s all for a shot gun a rifle for target at long or short range you have to decide but you sold me on the rifle short barrel shot gun no no no. jesse
Benelli is the gun to go with. Trust me this is amazing and you will not regret buying this. Please do not think that guns can be used for defense if someone tries to rob you, and also please do not get a gun in the first place especially a lethal one if you have no intentions to hunt or use it for anything other then "fun" Along with that same point invest in a less expensive gun if you have no intentions to hunt deer, duck, pheasants, etc… because it can be used as something to make yourself feel more superior and can lead to troubles down the road.
Buy the AR-15! when the Change bans assault rifles it will be worth a small fortune. Benelli is nice but overpriced! You can do the same thing with a Remington shotgun. Buy all the ammo you can.
I don’t know which is more funner, but the AR platform is so versatile, with the multitude of calibers for it, that is quite possibly on of the best weapon systems ever.
That is a sweet weapon… but as you mentioned, its applications are limited. I’ll take my Colt HBAR over a shotgun any day, even that one. There’s just so much more I can do with it. Guess I’m lucky though, I have a gun safe with some other cool toys, including an 870 that fills the scattergun niche pretty darn well. Wait, I just got a brain storm!!! sell something else and get both.
you should get the rifle ur freinds right the rifle will be more fun. and while ur at it u should try hunting.
Do not spend $2000 on an AR15…. There are plenty of off the shelf AR15 rifles for about $1000 that are reliable, fun to shoot and would be a pleasure to own……
Then get a 12 guage pump shotgun…..
Consider a Mossberg 590…. About $400 to $600 in most places…..

Sure – You could spend 2 grand on an AR but in my opinion your not getting that much more than an off the shelf regular model…
Withe left over money – Purchase 2 nice cases, a nice cleaning kit and some bulk ammo…..
lwrc are the best ar’s i would choose that in case of any ban because you will always be able to get the bennelli another one of my favorites but I know i can wait to get it anytime and the ar will shoot 100 round drums so get the lwrc.
