As you may already know —- Maverick is Mossbergs economy line….. They are very similar… Yes you can put a top folder stock that fits a Mossberg 500 on a Maverick 88…..
It is my understanding some of the tactical fore grips that fit a 500 may not interchange onto the 88 but the rear stocks do with no problem…. I own both of these shotguns… The differences are the trigger group and the safety location… The receiver and barrel are the same high quality items like the 500 has….
As a side note —- I don’t know if I can convince you of this — But pass on the top folder… Its bulky, gets in the way — makes the balance of the shotgun "feel wrong" and is goofy looking…. If you must have something like this then consider a Butler Creek side folder…..

Yes they are. The trigger group is different and the safety is in a different place and there are a few other differences I think. The Maverick is a bit cheaper for them to make.

basically the way savage and stevens works. Its the same thing just a little easier on the wallet. I have a maverick model 88 12 gauge and I love it! Heres a link from where I purchased my top folding stock and some other cool things from! Pretty much anything that goes on a 500 will fit a model 88. This site even specifies if it will fit your model 88.
Hope this helped!
