I’m looking for a 12ga. autoloading shotgun. I’m looking to spend around 0-0. I hunt dove and quail mostly but go turkey and duck huntin every once in a while. Other than a Mossberg (My dad would kill me if I got one), what are the best autoloaders in this price range?

I have to agree with everyone who has suggested a remington. I have shot two 1100′s and one 11-87 and I have never seen any of them malfunction in any way. 500-700 dollars severely limits you’re options, which is a problem which I ran into while searching for just the right gun. Remington falls right in that price point. They make a hell of a shotgun and I’m sure you’ll never be disappointed with one.
If you have the time to save up a couple hundred dollars, I would highly suggest investing in either a Beretta 391.. ANY Beretta 391. And the Benelli Montefeltro Super 90 is a pretty good bet as well. The performance of these guns is great, and the felt recoil is much less, not to mention they’re absolutly gorgeous.
And I have to agree with your father. While Mossbergs have a very appealing price point, you won’t be nearly as satisfied with their performance or reliability. And if I am not mistaken the Mossberg 935 is not meant to handle lighter loads. It is chambered in 3.5". Using 2.75" loads is going to cause problems with the action. Since you hunt mostly dove and quail, the magnum chambers would be complete overkill.
I hope you make the right choice and pick a gun that you’ll always be proud of.

Browning is the best at any price.. Remember cheapest doesn’t always cost less. My Browning is worth about three times what was paid for it years ago.

The Fonz is right about Browning, but good luck finding one in your price range. I’d go for a Remington if I were you. It’s as good in the field as a Browning and costs far less. So if you want to impress your heirs, get the Browning. If you want a good field gun that doesn’t cost a small fortune, get the Remington.

I’d reccomend either a Remington 1100, or an 11-87 both excellent firearms. it will more than suit you for what you want to achieve.
But its a shame your father doesn’t like mossberg, their products are really great.

I have a rem 1100 that I have had for probably 15 years it was my dads before that and it has functioned well with only one problem recently that was a 2 dollar 15 min fix. Considering it has had many many cases of ammo through it I would recommend it to anyone.
