It's some great self defense ammo that is made for 2 legged critters not birds. It's a 00 buck shot that will go through about 8 pieces of sheet rock. And will easily down any intruder and most likely anyone behind them. I wouldn't recommend going with a slug as the recoil will be pretty intense and hard to manage and make quick follow up shots hard. If you want to go with shot OOO BK buckshot would be the next step down. Personally I find the 3" magnum more punishing on me then any beifits you get from using them, plus you lose a round capacity when using them.
