Best shotgun ammo for combat?

February 14th, 2010 by eranio

Let’s say I have a 12 gauge, Mossberg 590 and I’m fighting in close range combat. What would be the best ammo for killing my enemy from 1-30 yards?

P.S.- I’m not planning to kill anyone, I’m just curious :P

If your a good shot a slug will do the job well enough.

i assume you are facing numerous enemies, thus you wouldnt want to use slugs, unless maybe he or she is hiding behind a car. that is quite a range, at one yard you could pretty much use anything, and it would make a mess, buckshot would probably be the best all purpose thing to use.

Just the fact you are using a shotgun means anything within 30 yard unles it is wearing hard armor is pretty much toast. Bird shot would be great if there are many but if you had known it was going to happen 1st round birdshot to get everyone hurt then solid slug to take aim and fire. Even if they wear hard armor a slug shot to the chest will slow them down.
