When you are talking shotguns a Remington 870 Wingmaster would be my first pick. Then a Remington 870 EXPRESS. I like the older Wingmasters the best I just took mine to the range last week and shot five slugs out of the smooth bore barrel at 50 yards. All five hit a pie plate. The Wingmaster shoots well ,is balanced well, and will last a life time. There are more expensive shotguns but not better shotguns!

The mossberg 500 is a good shotgun. another excellent shotgun is the Remington 870. The 870 express is around $300-380 and is worth every penny. I own one and love it. You should go to a gun store and check them out and then decide. You can get all the details from a good dealer.

Need to know what your going to use it for. A Mossber 500 is a great shotgun…..for bird shooting, home defense, and rabbit hunting. It is not a great deer gun. Every one I have ever seen will not pattern buck shot, but will kill birds all day long with any shell. A Remington 870 in the supermag(it’s under $600 if you get one of the first ones that came out), 870 wingmaster. Others might be a Smith & Wesson 1000 series. I would go look at a gun store and see what caught my eye then come back and ask what people think of the gun you liked.

Mossberg 500 or a Remington Wingmaster, both very good shotguns.

Look at the Benelli Super Nova, I have the nova and like it. Thats probably the best shotgun out there because the comfortech stock and rotating bolt reduce recoil in its 3.5inch chambers.
