best shotgun to use all the time?

February 23rd, 2010 by eranio

i have been looking at the remington 870, 453, and 1100 and the mossberg 500, and 535. I am looking for a shotty under 300, durable, American made (if possible) and fits me. I would like to use it to hunt deer, turkey, bird, and use in clay . Any suggestions? Also i would like it to be new if possible.

I am going to go against the flow. Good, used Remington 1100′s are available for around $300. You may have to shop some but it will be worth it. 12 gauge will be preferable. Interchangeable chokes are a plus for versatility. If you will shoot clays, you will shoot a lot of shells. The recoil reduction of an auto will make the 1100 preferable for this. There are many options in slug barrels, and you will rid yourself of the pumps ”rattling forearm." For me anyways, the comb of the 870 is too low, and the Mossberg 500′s pull is on the long side. (You may find different.) I own the 1100 and Moss. 500. My dad has the Wingmaster. I know which I prefer.

You cannot beat the 870′s reputation.

They’ll take everything you throw at em and be waiting for more!

I have had a remington 870 for many years. I have shot deer with the rifled barrel and everything from squirrels to pheasants and ducks as well as geese. It is a good quality shotgun for a great price.

There is one reason why the Rem 870 is so popular and recommended: IT JUST WORKS.

In the price range, it and the mossy 500 are the best bets. Increase your budget and increase your options.

The One and Only Remington 870 shotgun, it is versatile, dependable, reliable, and durable. It’s reputation precedes its name, a true American legend.
