Buying a used Remington 870 shotgun ?
I went to a local gun shop today and they had a used Remington 870 for 9. Is that a good buy? What are some things I can look at when buying a used shotgun?
Second thing I was wondering is what does it mean to have a modified choke and what does it mean to have the barrel riffled?

If in good condition, yes, if beat up, no. Look for pitting in the barrel, rust anywhere (use a flashlight), scratches, dings, any indications of misuse, scratched/gouged screw heads, etc.
Shotgun barrels have a funnel-shaped constriction near the muzzle that helps concentrate the shot pattern. Different chokes have different levels of constriction. Cylinder is basically a smooth, unconstricted barrel, modified tightens the end by .02". Most shotgun barrels are smooth, a rifled barrel has grooves that twist down the length of the barrel causing a shotgun slug to spin like a rifle bullet, making it able to shoot further more accurately than a slug through a smooth barrel.
