January 21st, 2010 by eranio

ok just called the Cabelas in Hamburg, PA – the person at the firearms dept. said hes pretty sure u can buy any shotgun at 18, but he said the Mossberg JIC he thinks u have to be 21+, anyone know?
for the ppl saying that they refused because of me, thats not it at all, i live down the road from the store i went in talking about other guns and chatting with the employees – but when i was talking about pistols and tac. shotguns they the age limits were 21+ for pistols and 21+ for tactical shotguns. i didnt know about the shot guns – i said hmm ill have to look into that (hence why im on here) but no they where showing me rifles to not just shot guns so.. hope that clears up the "you probally looked like a ghetto monkey.

It is completely legal in your state to purchase a shotgun at 18 years old…..

BE AWARE — The store has the right to refuse a sale to anyone and they don’t have to give you a reason…. If you walk in looking like a reject from a rap video and start asking for "tactical" shotguns they may tell you to get lost!…..

Walk in – Look normal, ask questions and purchase the Mossberg J.I.C model you want — Be 18, have a drivers license, have no felony convictions and don’t look / act like an idiot and your all set….

If it’s a shotgun you have to be 18. Doesn’t matter what the stock looks like, what color it is, how many bells and whistles it has. As long as it’s registered as a shotgun, and not a short barreled one registered as an AOW.

In our great state any shotgun that meats the Federal standard of a 18 inch barrel and 26 inch barrel and doesn’t function automatically you can be 18 and to purchase.
