Can I buy a shotgun on line?
I’m interested in buying a lightweight 20 ga. synthetic Remington express 870 or a 11-87 tactical for home defense. I see them on line and in stock. I live in NH and understand handgun FFL rules etc. Have had my firearms permit for nealy 35 years and renew it whenever it’s due, but don’t know the rules about shipping the shotgun to me at home or is it necessary to ship toa dealer.

Yes. But you must go through an ffl dealer. They will not ship to your address. Try gunbroker.com.

If you are buying from a FFL, it must be shipped to a FFL and the 4473 filled out in order for it to be transferred to you. Depending on your State laws, you may purchase a firearm from another private party who is a resident of your State and have it shipped directly to you. This is in accordance with Federal law.

Well you can buy a gun online but it has to be shipped to a dealer. Can’t be shipped to your house unless you already owned the gun and sent it in for repairs or such.
You will have to get the dealers permission to have it shipped to them before buying it online. The dealer will have to fax a copy of their FFL to the place your buying it from. Then you can buy it online, be sure the billing address is your address and the shipping address is the FFL. Good idea to call the website or seller a short while after making your purchase to make sure the seller has gotten the FFL fax. The dealer will call you when they get it. They do have a holding period but it varies by store. Plus the seller if a dealer themself needs to send a copy of their FFL with the gun. I had a issue one time because the seller didn’t.

yes, you have to ship it to a dealer. they usually charge anywhere from 50 to 60 to take care of it for you. the only way you can get a shotgun shipped to your door is if you have a FFL but you can get any part of a shotgun mailed to you except a receiver.

If you are buying from an FFL dealer, than it has to be sent to an FFL dealer. If you do that, the transaction is completed online, and then the package is signed for at the FFL dealer of your choice, and you can then go and pick it up.

Ship it through a FFL Dealer or buy the gun from one. Depends on what kind of deal your getting. I live in Texas and the only way to get a gun shipped to your home and carry guns loaded or not, on persons or vehicle is Pre1899 rifles and pistols. Federal Laws do Not Apply to these weapons. Barrel must be stamped any date pre-1899. Good Luck
