Can I put a Magazine Extension on my shotgun?, maverick 88 by mossberg?
I dont know if I have the 88 Field Model or the 88 All Purpose.
I know its a Maverick 88 by mossberg. It only holds 2(3) shells total. I know MOST things for a mossberg 500 fit the gun.
My question is do they make a magazine extention for it, 6 0r 8 round?
where can I get one?

The answer is yes and no. Most Mossberg models have a closed-ended magazine. The nut that holds the barrel on screws directly into the end of the magazine, so it’s impossible to extend the magazine capacity beyond what it already holds. You can purchase a replacement magazine that holds more rounds. However, because of the way the barrel is held on you have to replace it too. The total cost of the gun and the parts needed to make it high-capacity is going to make your 88 more expensive than a Mosberg 500 Persuader. You’ll end up with an expensive, economy-level shotgun. Your best option is to trade in the 88 towards a high-capacity 500 model. The Persuader comes with a shoulder stock. The Cruiser model has a pistol-grip.

Um, I don’t know if they make extensions for it but I know you can take out the plug and you should be able to put 5-6 shells in the gun. What do you need the extension for because I know that if you went hunting with the plug removed and or more than 3 shells in the gun at once you can get a big fine and lose your gun.

If you want a bigger mag, you have to switch the magazine and the barrel at the same time as Whoto said….
Your shotgun actually holds 5+1 as it is, though. There’s a wooden dowel "plug" in the magazine right now that stops you at 2 for legal hunting reasons. Unscrew the magazine from the receiver with some pliers (cardboard padding to avoid scratches) gripped on the very end of the magazine tube where the barrel nut screws in and pull the wooden dowel out. Remember, if you use it to hunt water birds later on, you’ll need to put the dowel back in.
