Can I safely remove the gas plug out of my semi-auto shotgun?

November 5th, 2009 by eranio

I have a Mossberg 930 semi auto shotgun. I cant use the slug gun in PA because of the semi auto. Can I safely hunt with the gas plug out to make it a manual reload? Please only knowledgeable answers as I don’t want to end up like Elmer Fudd. Thanks in advance.

Forget about it, very bad idea.* Just buy a shotgun plug to put into your magazine, which will permit you to only load 2 shot-shells into the magazine.* Walmart has em.* Very inexpensive.* That way you will be able to put one in your chamber, and have two rounds loaded in your magazine, which gives you a total of three (3*) rounds.*

i assume you mean the tube plug,,,,, if so you can make it hold only one shell ok tu edie and i would not mes with the gas operating system ok tu eddie

That won’t stop the gas from being diverted….it will only stop the gun from cycling. It will still bleed pressure from the barrel and divert it backward….and without the piston system, you’ll get a face full of extremily hot and noxious gas.

    Don’t do it.
