A single shot 410 with a pointer would likely be the Stevens, there were a couple of other manufacture who engraved spaniels, and labs on their shotguns as well. But a pointer on a single shot should be from Stevens. The Ithaca gun company used a pointer on their shotguns and is one of the nicest engravings depicting a hunting dog.

My J. Stevens double has a pointer on point on the side of the receiver. The gun is from the 1950′s.

Many guns have that but,in a single a Stevens might be it.

Possibly a Winchester Cooey 1956. A very popular model that featured a dog on point on a light walnut stock.

I had a real old Iver-Johnson with a dog etching, these are less common than the Stevens nowadays
