Can you use a Rifle Scope on a Shotgun to shoot Slugs?

I have a Famous Maker Model HT2510T Tactical Scope which I believe is for RIfle. I would like to use it for shooting slugs from a rifled barrel shotgun. Is this a problem?

As long as there is enough eye relief, it will work. The last thing you want is a case of "glass rash". Most shotgun scopes have a longer eye relief and low magnification. The objective lens is usually set to be parallax free at 50. Rifle scopes are set for 100 yards as a rule or have an adjustable objective so you can set it for whatever range you are shooting. I use a 1.5-4.5X32. It has plenty of magnification for shotgun ranges and at the lower settings it has a big field of view for fast target acquisition. Have fun shooting the gun and remember to wear ear and eye protection.

Nope!
You need a slug gun scope. They are specifically designed for close in shooting. The adjustments are calibrated for 50yrd "sighting in" and will be MUCH more satisfying.
Keep it to 4X or less…. Never felt much need for a scope on a shotgun……

Personally I’d rather not be 3" from the back of the scope when firing a slug from a shotgun. I use shotgun scope so that I don’t end up with a circular cut round my eye.

Strange you should mention this. Every so often I brouse the shelves of the local sporting goods stores to see what catches my fancy; several weeks ago I picked up a nice mossberg with a scope and an extra barrel. It is an interesting scope setup; the barrel has a scope mounting base that extends back over the receiver that the scope is mounted on. When you remove the barrel the scope comes off too, then you just put on the other barrel. It is really neat; gave it a try and it put three slugs touching through the bull at 50 yards. Put it in the building with the rest of the shotguns; a nice addition. Now I am trying to locate a scoped 98 mauser to add to my mauser building.
