best shotgun Archives

Im looking at getting a tactical shotgun and ive been looking at two kinds, the mossberg 500 and the remington 870. I like their look and i shot the mossberg before and liked it and i like the look of them. anything else you think i should look at?

i want a semi automatic shotgun to shoot down crows pigeons rats and wildfowl mabye, it needs to be accurate and powerfull and mainly a good make.it also needs to be a 12 bore and which cartridges would be best for shooting as far as possible.price range is betwen £200-£600 but second hand.
Also if ducks, geese or pheasents are on my land can i shoot them?

>i am 13 and am pretty small biult but ive got long arms
>im looking to start trap shooting with my Dad and i was wondering what type of shotgun you would recomend for me (one you can buy in Australia)
> because im only beginning we will spend up to 00 on the gun.
>we’ve gone to heaps of gun shops and everybody has a different oppinion on the brands and barrel legth and stuff.
>prefferably less recoil (but i know that the heavier the gun the less recoil)
>also any advise of stuff to keep in mind that u can think of (barrel lenght, how good recoil reducers really are etc.)

I’m looking to keep it under 0… preferably between 0-0… and it’ll most be for target and skeet shooting, not so much hunting

I am looking for a really good shotgun for hunting deer (shooting slugs). I know I want a brand new one and a new model as well. I will spend up to about 00 but prefer to spend about 0-800. I also want something that I can also use for turkey hunting (something that comes with different barrels or chokes). I was looking online (winchester, mossberg & Remiington) but there are so many different models on the websites I dont know which is the right one? Any help would be appreciated. Please include specific model #’s or links so I can find it.
for everyone that says mossberg 500 how about this one – do you think it is better than the 500??

what gauge should i get? plz help

Turkey season is coming up soon and I want to know what the best shotgun shells there is I think the top 3 brands are winchester supreme elites,Remington wingmaster hd,and hevi-shot.includeing this 3 brands and anything can anyone tell me the best based on pattern. I dont care if the shot is tungsten or lead I just want to smash a turkey real far out

Been thinking about buying my first shotgun. Simply, I think it would be a vital tool for defense and survival. Never really been a shotgun guy. Only have shot other people’s shotguns a handful of times. So I would definitely call myself a newbie when it comes to shotguns.

The attributes I would like to see in it are:

1. Versatility – Good defensive gun. Good for hunting lots of different game and putting food on the table. Also possibly for shooting clays later at some point if I want to try it.

2. Reliable and Dependable – It’s gotta work when I need it.

3. Simple to operate and easy to maintain.

4. Not cost me a fortune.

What would you recommend? Would one of those models that come with 2 barrels be a good choice?

Thanks for your input.

Im interested in joing the nav so i figured id start learning about guns now…

Iv been wanting to get a shotgun now for a long time to go along with my s&w 9ve. people have been telling me that i should definitly get a semi auto but i have had my heart and eye on the mossberg 500 security/hunting combo. most places around me though wont have it in until closer to fall. So i ask all of you, whats your opinion? do i listen and get a semi auto or do i stick with what i have found so far and get the mossberg pump? By the way the gun would be used for defense/small game/fun shooting.
thanks in advance!

when you factor in weight, balance, function, reliability, price, and looks. i’m talking about upland hunting, not waterfowl
i already own 2 Benelli shotguns and in my opinion they are the ONLY auto loader to own. in fact a very good freind and long time hunting partner bought a Remington 1187 at the same time i bought my Benelli last year, he shot my gun for the first time this fall and within a week he traded for a Benelli. i am a little suprised that no one has mentioned Beretta or Winchester though.

I need a shotgun for under 0, and i want it to be able to hunt dove, squirrel, turkey, duck, and geese with it (i have a slug gun for deer.) I can not decide between anything i find. It has to be a 12 gauge 3 1/2inch because of the waterfowl.

I have done the research and decided that i want a pump action over an automatic.

I have read some automatics will not cycle 2 3/4inch shells.

Unless someone can say a shotgun that can confirm the a shotgun that is chambered in 3 1/2inch chamber can cycle a 2 3/4inch then i am only wanting a pump.

I also know that there is not (to me) that much of a noticeable difference in cycle times between a pump and an automatic.

I am also going to want one with wetland camo due to the fact that i like waterfowl hunting the most, if not then i will just get a wood and metal version.

So can someone tell me a gun that will fit my few needs.
well i just did some research again and it looks as if i will be buying a browning bps or Remington 870, can someone clarify which would be better for my needs.
i now found that some Beretta’s are nice, if anyone can tell me which on is the nicest or best between these 3(i will hopefully use these for my whole life) then that would be nice.

nevermind….forget the guns, just say what you guys think are the best for a lifetime, i will not spend more the 0 though
ok…i am deciding between a remington 870 supermag, and can anyone tell me a really good cheap automatic?

Hey I’m tryin to find a good shotgun for under 600 bucks (no super slugs) I was thinkin of a mossberg 500, any other good ideas?

Well ive looked it up and seen some lower items can be upgraded fully to their Uber item. however i dont know which is best..
i need to know the Best:
Magnum-
Shotgun-
Handgun-
Machine gun-
Best meaning Most attack power!
Please list names not locations !

I don’t want anything too powerful that will take the whole duck off, and leaving nothing for dinner. lol

I am looking for a shotgun at around 0-0. I am going to hunt rabbit, squirrel, turkey, and deer. I may eventually go waterfowl or dove, but i have other guns for that. I will buy a slug barrel for deer. My dad asked our local gun store dealers for tips on what to do, and they said any mossberg or remington will do fine, but make sure i get a mossberg barrel(yes there is mossberg barrels for remington guns, and i have been told that those barrels are the best, if anyone has anything to debate over that then say so.) So try to limit it to remington or mossberg. Here are my questions and statements.

Is a 20 or 12 better(i can handle a 10, and i love recoil, so no real need for 20 unless you guys suggest it.)

For the turkey, squirrel, and rabbit should i use a full or modified choke?
Should i get an automatic or a pump?

Is there any specific model you suggest, and if there is give me reasons why.

The gun needs to be able to be put through abuse, and weather.

I am wanting it to be wood, with a blued barrel, but it can be synthetic, but it HAS to have a blued barrel.

I want it to be reliable, and last me at least 30 years if I take care of it.

I want a 3inch for both, but if it is an automatic it has to be a 3inch which can also shoot a 2 3/4inch just as easy as a 3inch, but if it is a pump, it can be a 3 1/2 inch.

I will buy the slug barrel in the future, so the gun itself can be anywhere between my price range.

If there are any more questions please feel free to ask, but answers will have to wait until i get out of school first. Please put your input and any suggestions, give me good explanations and reasons to help me out please because i have been looking for a good 2 months and have not really narrowed it down to a lot of things, and Christmas is coming up soon and i am going to ask for this shotgun for Christmas. Thanks.
Ok lets fix some things up, i will only use th 10 gauge i said for waterfowl and waterfowl only, not everything…i know a 12 is bigger than a 20….and mountain man shutup because i am 14 and i have shot guns since i was 5, so shutup with your stupid comments i see on every questions.
Ok it looks like it will be a remington 870(someone suggest a model) or a mossberg…which one should i choose?
