Stoeger has 2 models, the over and under Condor and the side by side Uplander. Both have 22" barrels, 13" length of pull stocks, single trigger, shoot 3" shells, and are available in .410 or 20 gauge. The .410 has fixed modified and full choke. The 20 gauge has screw-in choke tubes. The Uplander is quite a bit heavier than the Condor. The Uplander .410 is 6.7 lbs and the 20 is 6.8 lbs. The Condor is 5.5 lbs. in .410 and 20. The MSRP of both is $350.00 but they are usually on sale locally for $300.00.
I have had an Uplander .410 for quite a few years and it’s a nice, solid, well balanced gun.

New doubles tend to be a bit pricey. If you hang around gun shops enough, or browse Shotgun News, you can probably run across an old Savage-Stevens for under $300.

Stoeger Arms Youth Condor 13" LOP less than 350
thats the one you want Browning makes one but you will spend more than you want on it. Look at Academy sports at the Yildiz models and see about having a smith cut the stock down

The terms "double barrel" and "affordable" don’t often go in the same sentence.
For a single barrel break open youth shotgun, the H&R Pardner Youth can be had new for right around $100 new.

Wal Mart and K Mart usually have catalogs from various manufactures that they can special order from. However, double barrel shotguns can be pricey.
Might try a few pawn shops or gun shops and see if there is a good used one on the rack. My particular favorite is the Fox/savage series.
Finding a youth sized stock will also be a problem. You could buy the "adult" sized gun and have a competent gunsmith shorten the stock.

look for a brand( new england fire arms ) most big sporting goods store carry them there short on the stock and make a good starting gun for youths
