Have you ever used your guns for self defense?

Particularly for those who keep guns around the house for that reason. Like if someone broke in and you pulled that shotgun from under the bed.

Just remember…
When seconds matter, the cops are only minutes away.

I didn’t have to because I don’t have a gun!

I have. I used the gun to order a guy onto the floor. At that time, I asked my wife to duct tape him while I called the cops. This was a situation my wife and I had discussed and even rehearsed numerous times, as the purpose for keeping a "ready gun" in the house was to prevent violence, not to do violence.
Nobody was hurt, nothing was stolen, criminal got 4 years.

depending on where you live, you better know the law when it comes to using a weapon in self defense, even in your own house. Used to be you could kill an intruder as long as they were killed inside your house, but now days states are cracking down and you have to make all attempts to vacate your own property prior to using deadly force. I have pulled a gun on one intruder only after they had come into my house and cornered me in a back room where i was forced to shoot. I was never charged, but was informed had i done it upon his initial entering of the premises I could have been charged. It is not easy to live with the fact you shoot someone, even though you are left no other choice.

No, unfortunately I have not been able to shoot a criminal yet, but I’m waiting. But as the old saying goes, "It is better to have a gun and not need it, then to need a gun and not have it".

I shot a dog that was attacking me in my yard after Hurricane Katrina…all the fences got knocked down and mean dogs were roaming in packs…I am happy to say no humans have been shot…

Never.

In a way. The mere presence of my gun being visable has stopped many potentially situations. i.e. once when I was driving on the interstate, a car full of gangstas pulled alongside, then took off after I placed the gun in view.

no i no longer can get a permit to have a gun due to me defending myself along with my home when i threw a flower pot at someone and the cops came and got me for demostic violence (it was a friend) but still i was protecting myself and since she called the cops after i left MY home…..they got me for domestic violence and i cant protect my home with a fire arm now.

No, I haven’t because no one have attacked me lately or wants to kill me, I guess I’m really friendly
….
I won’t use it, for self defense, neither for anything else because it is really dangerous to use a gun, I will end up to be in jail..

Haven’t shot anyone, but post Katrina I did use my gun to scare 3 would be burglars away from my neighbor’s house.
Hopefully I will never have to use it, but I would rather have the option instead of not having a chance at all.

Used is a very broad term. I have not fired it, drawn it or pointed at another person (THANK YOU GOD). I have had a thoughtful hand on it or hovering over it on occasion.
