Because they have a good fullback that can block, there is no need to put that seperation between the qb and the line if you can pick up blitzes. I also think Hasselbeck needs to be as close to the line of scrimage as possible. He doesn’t have the strongest arm and has very little mobility.

They are a dominant running style team. Just don’t call it?

Well the main reason they dont run shotgun is because they dont have the offense for it. They are a typical west coast offense. Because Hasselback dont have the arm strength, they run the ball 75% of the time and pass 25% of the time with 75% of the passes going to the running backs. They have Alexander so they dont need to pass a lot. It’s really about the offense of coordinator too.

It is thier style of offense.

    1. The shotgun formation doesnt present a huge threat in the running game so defenses can key in on the passing game.

    2. The strenght of the seahawks is in the ground game. They would prefer to run the ball more and the I is a better running formation.

    3. Most of the passing game the Seahawks run is play action which means they fake the run to fool the defense. You cant do that effectively out of the shotgun.

Because they have a good QB behind center. and a good O Line to protect that good QB. Plus they have a good RB to use play action with or let him run wild. Shotgun formations are for green QBs in the NFL. That is why Vince Young and Rex Grossman work out of the shotgun and Hasselbeck takes snaps from center.

    They have no offensive line.
