H&R shotgun or Remington shotgun?
So I was in my local hunting and fishing store and am looking for a home protection shotgun. These are the two I am considering.
Remington 870 12 Gauge Express Syn 18" -9
H&R New England Pardner 12 Gauge 18 1/2" -9
the guy at the counter told me the H&R would be fine sense I will not be using it a lot. Just to go to the range to get used to the gun than keep it in the house. I am inclined to go for the H&R sense it is 80 bucks cheaper but still want others opinions on which I should get.
Thank you for your answers.

870s are riding on the reputation of the gun they mimic ,the true 870
870 expresses are cheap knock offs
When people tell you that cops are using them they are wrong
Cops use 870 Police Magnums
And Remington has never had a military contract
The H&R is a Norinco 870 copy as good as the Remington made 870 copy, some say better because the Chinese still make guns the old way and haven’t progressed to the modern method of making cheaper steel
With that all said you can get a Maverick for about the same price as the H&R
It’s a cheap version of the 500 and already has a loyal following
The big difference between Mossberg and Remington
is that Mossberg didn’t con the brands followers into believing that their inexpensive gun was the same as the better version

Do Not Buy the H&R shotgun…… I assume you are looking at the Pardner Pump Protector 12 gauge….
Only consider the Remington 870 or the Mossberg 500 Persuader shotgun…
Look at the big picture… Nobody says you have to spend $1000 for some expensive home protection firearm…. Home protection shotguns are actualy very inexpensive…… You are getting a lot of quality when purchasing the Remington 870 or the Mossberg 500. Dont let the price tag fool you….. Look inside most police cars and when you see a shotgun its either an 870 or a 500… The police, military, security contractors and home owners that want the best all own the Remington or Mossberg…. I have held the H&R shotgun and it feels heavy, blocky and cheap…. It also has NO track record for law enforcement use… Get the best – which really isnt that expensive…..

Of the two, the Remington 870 is the one to get. It’s been around a long time and they have great reliability.

Mossberg will do the job just fine at a reasonable price.*~~

Defiantly the Remington. I own one, my father own’s one, my hunting buddy’s own one. Hands down one of the best for the bucks.
On another note…I used to own a Mosberg HD the HD stands for home defense and I loved that gun. Short barrel, pistol grip handle instead of a stock and heat shield over the barrel.

If your going to do something, do it right. Buy the Remington. I don’t understand the rationale of most people saying if your not going to use it much then buy the beginner gun. Saving $80 makes more sense than what he told you.

The H&R is a quality, strong gun. For the extra 80 bucks, I would get the Remington.
Due to its popularity, there are a ton of after market chokes, barrels, stocks etc on the market. Also will bring a better resale.
If its just for home protection, and it will not get sold or used as anything else, then 80 dollars can buy all the ammo for protection, and practice.
