it has a rib barrel and some designs on it and would like to know what year it was made.It is in superior shape only one box of shells and half are still here fired through it. Any idea of value?

    my guess would be that you own a model 5, and the c57 could stand for classic model made in 1957. im just guessing here so dont take this for fact. if you can get the model number i have the gun traders guide and i could get you a value. e-mail if you want.

    One thing for certain, don’t sell it until you have had it ID’d and appraised. You can start by googling Browning or you can write to Browning or you can send a picture of it and all identifying marks to the NRA and wait for a response. Some manufacturers will post list of serial number groups that gives the year or manufacture.

    It may be worth only a few hundred dollars but it could also be one of those that a collector might pay an arm and a leg for.
