Make sure there are no shot-shells in the chamber and the safety is on. It loads from the underside through the big opening in the reciever. The big tube under the barrel is the magazine. All you have to do is push the shotshells into the tube via the opening. Be careful OK. It doesn’t sound like you have had to much experience around firearms. I highly suggest you get a manual and some help from someone that is familiar with pump shotguns. You may be able to download and copy a manual from Mossbergs website, not sure. Have a good and safe one Bob C.

I have a Mossberg 12 gauge model 835 and it’s also pump-action. It loads through the bottom of the receiver. You just push the shells in through the bottom of the receiver, into the magazine, which is under the barrel. It should hold 5 or so. If it’s plugged, it’ll hold 3. The Mossberg 500 (which I will assume is what you have) should load the same way.
Hope that helps!

If you don’t know how to load it, you need to put it down, lock it up and don’t go near it until you take some safety courses, or at least have someone with some sort of firearm experience around to instruct you on safe handling of a firearm.

EXACTLY WHAT AIRBOURNE SAID!
And the person who sold you a gun without going over the basics of it should be beat with it.

Take it back to where you bought it, and have them show you how to load & operate it.*
