i have an older 12 gauge remington 870 shotgun with a 28" barrel. i wanted to get a shorter 18 or 20 inch barrel for it, mainly to keep at the house just in case. does anybody know of any websites to order the shorter barrel from?

I’d try sportsman’s warehouse or even just google Remington 870. Depending on your state, it may be easier to have a local sporting goods store or gunsmith order it for you. As a precaution I would go no shorter than 19" that way you’re still well within legal regulations

Any decent gunsmith can do a nice professional job of shortening the barrel. You’ll be able to choose the the sight to mount also. A small job like this should cost less than the price of a new barrel.

the easiest way to get a gun part is go to your local gun store and have them order it for you. that way u dont have 2 do anythin cept pay for it. ime all for shorter barrels "just in case." another thing to do is if u couldnt give 2 shits bout the gun you could jus saw it off but i wouldnt recomend that as if u ever wanted 2 shoot it accuratly again u would have 2 re-crown the barrel and thread it again so u can fit a choke in it.

I ordered my 18 inch police barrel for my remington 870 thru cabelas.com . They sell 2 models of 18 inch barrels for the 870, one is rifled for sabots, the other is a smooth bore, for home defence you shoould go with the smooth bore so you don’t limit yourself to the ammo you can use.

Wal-mart has/can get them. You can order from sportmens guide, midway, natchez, brownells all should have an 18-20 inch barrel in stock.
