If they put a stricter law on weapons which would you prefer the shotgun or semi-auto?

Not talking about hunting here, but home defense?
Just curious.
Shotgun for me..
Note: I have a 30-06 and AR-15 I use for hunting.

I have a full compliment of pistols, rifles and shot guns. Although I don’t think we will see the laws change much, if I had to choose for home defense it would definitely be a 12 or 16 gauge pump. I know a lot of people think a shot gun is clumsy and not very maneuverable, but here’s the thing; if you are in your bedroom and hear someone downstairs or in the kitchen or another room and suspect an intruder, I guarantee you, they are relying on quite! Once they hear the mechanism of a Remington 870 pump loading a shell, there will be little chance of anyone in the house not understanding what just happened.
As for close encounters where you can actually see the life threatening situation, a hand gun would be best..With out doubt!

I don’t want any more "stricter laws". We already haved registrations and background checks. They (our Politicians) will try anything to slowly whittle away our rights ……… UNTIL WE HAVE NO RIGHTS. At this time I hear Obama even wants to relook at signing a treaty (with foreigners?) that WILL END UP BANNING OUR RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS. It is called going through the "backdoor". And we citizens won’t even know it happened.

Rifles are not good for home defense. You’re libel to have the thing taken away from you. Pistols are best, since they don’t have the long barrel for the intruder to grab onto. Maybe a sawed off shotgun… Oh wait, that’s illegal. Maybe you should just cower in a darkened corner, hoping the police will come before the guy makes it up the stairs.

Shotgun. I can only eat on deer at a time. Also, a gun is the worst idea for home protection. The average person is not a good enough shot under pressure. If you are scared, get a loud dog.

shotgun. less chance for a ricochet to hit an innocent bystander. highly effective too, without pulling the trigger. a scared intruder might try to oppose you if you’re using a .38… a 12 guage gets their attention. and obedience.

A shotgun is the best home defense for sure. At close range, they’re devastating. Damned near impossible to survive a direct hit at close range. Only knew one guy who did, and he was screwed up for life. I’ve had seasoned cops tell me they’d go up against a pistol, but if the guy has a shotgun, he gets anything he wants!
