If you take guns away from the citizens and they?

live in rural areas, are you forbidding hunting too? Where is the line drawn? Criminals in the rural areas can use shotguns too.

And your point is? In the total absence of shotguns, criminals can also use knives–Japan has one of the highest rates of knife-related crime in the world, their knife crimes are as bad or worse than gun crime is in the U.S.
The main difference? Modern medicine can *save people* from stab wounds these days, where gunshot wounds are harder. Not to mention, mass stabbings don’t happen so much.
But really, what’s the point here? In how much of the modern, non-historical U.S. are wild animals still an issue? Really. Do we not kill more deer by motor vehicle each year instead? Hunters have to *go out* into the countryside to *find* wilderness and to *find* wild animals to kill–this is no longer something farmers can just casually do, for the most part. More and more farmers get their meat from the grocery store, just like the rest of us. And even so, farmers make up what, three percent of the population at most? And that’s a total.
So….you’re saying that for the tiny sliver of that three percent, ok, that have a farm and *do* live within reasonable, fair-weather walking distance of *actual* wilderness with *actual* wild animals, that everyone should have not *just* common hunting weapons like shotguns, ok, but *also* things like semi-automatic assault rifles too?
That question, right ^^ up there ^^ , it sounds absurd when you put it like that, doesn’t it? And yet this is most of what passes for argument from your NRA crowds, Gentle Asker. Most pro-gun people start out talking about farmers and shotguns, ok, but what they really *aim for* are the assault rifles and concealed carry "rights" in crowded cities. They assume that anything having to do with "firearms" is a single, lump-sum issue really–that the right of a farmer, near a wilderness, to have a shotgun, is the *same exact thing* as the "right" of a paranoid suburban survivalist wannabe to pack a concealed semi-automatic handgun, so he can carry it with him into a courthouse or onto school property and go bats##t insane at will.
Basically, you’re confusing *Any* gun control at all with a total ban, and *any* measure meant to protect law-abiding citizens as some extreme dismantling of the Second Amendment. It’s ridiculous–if you read the literal text of the Amendment, it’s a run-on sentence connecting two loosely related issues–a right to gather and form militias, and the right of those groups to arm themselves.
If I were to interpret that Amendment as loosely as the NRA does, I could also construe the Second Amendment to mean that we have a *right* to form labor unions [*], not just in their current form mind you, but also as heavily armed insurgent armies designed to overthrow the companies. I could infer that it means a *Lot* of absurd things like that, ok?
I don’t though, because I can read plain english and know what "control" means, versus "total ban". You should try it sometime, Gentle Asker, really.

What country do you live in? No one here is taking away guns.

idk… good question thu… it’d be dumb to ban guns because someone who wants to kill someone will find a way no matter if they can legally have a gun or not. and us regular joes out there who need to protect ourselves from rapists and murderers will have to use a switchblade or knife and that might not be as affective if they have a gun.

you shouldn’t take away guns, we need our protection
the criminals will always have guns, illegally or legally,
the victims will only have them if they’re legal

You are never going to get it, are you.
I’d hate to think that you had access to guns in my country.
