I'm shopping for a Remington 870 shotgun. Should I buy new or used?
I can afford a new one, but I always like to save a little money when I can. Will I save much buying used, and will the savings be worthwhile? Unfortunately, I don’t know enough about shotguns to recognize if a used one has any problems. There’s a good chance I’ll buy from a gun show, because I’m in a small town and there aren’t any local dealers to support.

If your not too familiar with firearms I say get a new one…..
The Remington 870 shotgun is available in several models with prices starting around $250 in most area’s…. I don’t know what your budget is but for most folks $250 isn’t a huge sum of money so consider a new one…..
This standard Remington 870 Express is the least expensive model I know of and its a good value….

I should point out the Remington 870 is hugely popular with legions of fans that own these fine guns…. I happen to prefer Mossbergs but if you are somehwat familiar with the 870 then surely purchase one…. NO one ever was disappointed owning an 870 so rest assured it’s a good choice….

* Yes, buy Used and Save $$$.* A New shotgun doesn’t shoot any better than a good Used one.* Let the other guy pay the New Price, You Pay the Used Price and Save a Maximum of 35 to 40 %..* I bought all 26 of mine used with no regrets whatsoever, and saved a lot of $$$$.*

You’ll find so many 870s at the show, it’ll be hard to resist. They have them, as I’m sure you know, in all kinds of kits and configurations at the show. If I was buying a used one, I’d want a good deal, like the extra rifled/slug barrel thrown in, or a tactical stock or magazine provided, or something!
Good luck with your fine shotgun!

The used ones may be better than new. As you cycle the action through use they actually smooth up some. An abused firearm is usually easy to spot as they are all beat up. I’ve had good luck buying used firearms so I say go for it.

I don’t like used weapon because you don’t know how people used it. Also you can get the gun at waltmart for 230 or so.
