Yes, it won’t harm the shotgun.

Go right ahead. It won’t hurt anything. I have a Mossberg 500 12 gauge with a modified choke and I have shot slugs through it mulitple times with no damage to the barrel.
btw…the size of a modified choke is set by industry standards that must be followed by all firearms manufacturers, so comparing my Mossberg to your Remington is legitimate.

Go to the store and read the information on the boxes in which the slugs are packaged. It usually has information on chokes.

Yes, it will work. But you’d get better accuracy if you used a rifled slug barrel. The more restriction applied to the slug the more it deforms and the more eratic its flight path. You can pick up a rifled slug barrel from Cabelas for 100-150 bucks. Then you could have the best of every thing.

Yeah, a forster slug would be okay. I wouldn’t try a sabot slug, copper slug, or Brennecke slug. Among forster designs, the Winchester brand is the largest in diameter (in 12 ga.), and Remington’s are the smallest–in case you’re interested in fine-tuning your slugs.
Good luck.
