It is a very basic pump shotgun. Because of it’s weight and price, I would recommend a Remington 870. It’s lighter and cheaper.

for a little bit more money you can get a baikal mp-153. it’s a 3.5" semi.

yeah the mossberg 835 is a good gun especially for duck hunting the guy that said don’t buy doesn’t know what hes talking about my buddy uses the mossberg and it works just fine and duck hunting with him i see what the gun can take its a decent pump shotgun but i would spend a little extra and get the benelli Nova probably 80 to a 100 more if you are looking for a pump if you want a semi save the money spend alot of it and get a benelli super 90 is the 3 inch and super black eagle is the 31/2 inch i use the m1 super 90 for duck and geese and its a great gun

Most definitely. I couldn’t tear my Mossberg up. I put it through hell. The 835 is a great heavy load shotgun, especially with it’s ported barrell. You might invest in one of the newer aftermarket recoil mitigating stocks. It will help improve the "flinch" effect of anticipating that sock to the shoulder. I like to use the SideSaddle shell holder on mine too.
