What is the most powerful round that can be used in a shotgun? A deer slug? Buckshot?

  1. Gotta have more explosions!

Ever heard of Frag-12? It’s a relatively new shotgun shell that fires a miniature grenade. It comes in standard high explosive, fragmentation and armor-piercing (I think the latter uses a shaped charge).

    20gauge shells.

These days with the rifled shotgun barrels I’m sure it would be a Sabots. A lot more distance, accuracy, and knock down power.

Well, for starters, a slug from the factory is the most powerful. In the same sentence though, I have to say, some of my friends have made their own that put slugs to shame. I won’t say what they did, but it was sure as hell awesome!

Right now on the market, it would be the Hornady SST.

Take a 3-1/2" turkey shell, Make 3 overlapping cuts just below the wad. Put in an improved choke and shoot at a target at 100yds. It kicks a Slugs a$$ in a heartbeat.
