the pump shotgun is what I prefer I use a Remington 870 pump and it works great with a pump you get more accuracy becasue the gun does not use some of the gas from your shot to eject and load the next shot you get a little more range and accuracy, however with a semi auto you can shoot your rounds faster the trick is hit what you are aiming at the first shot and you won’t need the others

    Pros

Pump: less$, parts availability, dependable, not picky on ammo, magazine extension tubes are legal, rugged, don’t clean it and it still shoots
Semi: faster follow up shot, lighter recoil

    Cons

Pump: possible short stroke the pump, slightly slower follow up shot
Cons: ammo sensative, more $, more maintenance, keep it clean

The best choice between the two is the one that fits you. Go to the store and blindly raise each gun to where you think your eyes will line up with the sights. The one that lines up properly is the one for you. Do this with multiple brands pump and semi till you find the natural fit. Shotguns are rugged and durable, there is no such animal as a cheap shotgun, they are all reliable if you do your part. Personally I own a Remington 870 25" super magnum.

I prefer them both & use both.* There are no advantages or disadvantages to using one or the other.* If your looking for a real challenge use a single barrel.* I guarantee you will harvest more game and shoot far less ammo.* It makes you a better Shotgunner.*
