On the old hammer types and some 2 trigger models…….yes you can for sure.

You can on some, but its not a good idea. Thats a lot of pressure on the frame and the shot is going to get muddled up a bit. Better to pause a split second between shots.

From my experience, ONLY double barrel shotguns with TWO triggers can fire both barrels at the same time by simply pulling both triggers at the same time. I have done it with different doubles and can’t say it is a pleasant experience, but was never as bad as I was led to believe it would be. But then, I stand a click above 6’2" and have always weighed in the two-twenties or thirties as an adult. It might not be a good idea for smaller folks to fool with. And when you think about the possibility for serious injury, it probably isn’t even a good idea to fool folks with either.

As noted, any of the older SxS shotguns with double triggers could be. It was a heck of a recoil to do so. When I was very young, I was invited along with my grandfather and 3 of my uncles while they went shooting. I had never fired anything more than a bb gun and a single shot .22 and I was facinated by the HUGE double barreled shotgun my grandpa was shooting. I asked him if I could shoot it, and was firmly told no. A short time later, I asked a second time, only to be told again, no. I waited a bit and asked him a third time. Without missing a beat, he handed it to me, pulled back both hammers and stepped back. It was so heavy I could barely lift it level, and I know for certain that I didn’t have it pucked up tight against my shoulder as I grabbed both triggers. I awoke to my grandfather picking up the (what I later learned was a 10 gage short barreled stage coach) and brushing the dust off. With my ears ringing, and my head feeling like a ripe melon that had been dropped on concrete and a bloddy nose and fat lip, I slowly got up to find that I could barely move my right arm, couldn’t hear a darn thing except ringing in my ears, and that my head had impacted against the left front fender Of his chevy pickup with enough force that it placed a large dent in it that matched the approximate size of my head. I also realized at that moment, that when Grandpa said no, he meant no for a reason! For many years afterwards, if I started bugging him about something, he would take me by the shoulder and march me out to the driveway and point at the dent in the fender, shake his head, and walk away. I got the message.
