Question about Remington 870?

May 14th, 2011 by eranio

I’m looking to get a 20ga. Remington 870 Express shotgun.(http://www.remington.com/products/fi…70_express.asp)

Please click on the above link and tell me this, this gun the way it comes, is the choke integrated with the barrel or can i change the choke tubes out? And if i take the choke tube out can i shoot slugs in it? Also what 20ga. load do you recommend for deer.

Thanks

    the link does notwork

If you are buying the standard 870 express 20 guage with a vent rib barrel that is 28 or 26 inches long, then it comes with a single removable choke. The choke is a ‘modifed’ and you must purchase other chokes and the choke tool seperately

Modified is a good choke, it is a do-anything choke. You can safely shoot slugs through a modified choke. Any slug will do fine for deer just don’t bother with a sabot slug, they are designed for a fully rifled barrel or at least a rifled choke.
