question about shotgun parts?
February 16th, 2010 by eranio
I just bought a charles Daly semi-auto shotgun. I got it for dirt cheap so im assuming it is built with cheap parts. Any suggestings on how to upgrade this shotgun. Can I use parts from say the remington 11-87 or a Benneli? What parts would you suggest changing out? Thanks for any help.
Great answer Epic..No wonder your a top contributor

Swapping parts from other manufacturers won’t work. AT ALL.
If they aren’t made for the gun it won’t work. Keep it stock, it was made that way, and treated right it’ll keep working like new for a long time. Just make sure to keep it well cleaned and given the proper amount of lubrication (some like it wet, some like it dry, some like it inbetween).

If you wanted to use parts for a Remington or Benelli…you probably should have bought either a Remington or Benelli.

Manufacturers all make things"firearms"different.Cheap doesn’t mean it won’t serve you.Just accept what you bought and shoot and check it out.You don’t need to add parts. It’s not a hot rod for luring chicks. If it shoots where you look, you don’t need to "upgrade".

If it’s used, I’d probably check the O-rings (if any) in the cycling system to make sure they don’t need replaced. Otherwise if it’s brand new, don’t worry about it. Shoot it to your heart’s content. Just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean a whole lot. May be a few kinks, but those can normally be remedied. No point in mentioning using other shotgun manf. parts as others have answered that.
