Remington 870 or Benelli Nova Shotguns? pump-action shotgun?

December 7th, 2009 by eranio

I’m planning to purchase one of these shotguns which one you think it’s better.
I’m planning to hunt geese, ducks, turkey & Deer.
Would the above guns do the trick.
Did anyone Deer Hunted with those guns?

I have shot both of these shotguns a lot and you can’t go wrong with either one of them. The remington 870 has been around for a long time and is a good reliable gun and I have nothing bad to say about it. From my experience the Benelli Nova is just as good and reliable. The felt recoil of both of the guns for me was the same. I would pick the Nova over the 870 only, because I like the design of the forearm and the fit of the gun (for me anyways) better than the 870. They both can use rifled or smooth barrels which I’m sure you already knew. So with that said hold each one and see how they fit you, swing them (safely) like you would when hunting birds, and note their weights (carrying a heavy gun can suck when you have to hike long distances). Base your decision on how well the gun fits and feels when your holding it.

    Happy Hunting and Shooting

you cant go wrong with the an 870 in 12GA, put 100′s of shells thew it and won’t quit, took my first turkey with one great gun.

You need a 3.5" supermag for that. You will find the action on the 870 better and no rattles like the Nova.

i sugest the super nova..wee bit more but its a good solid gun…and with that comfortech stock you can shoot magnum turkey loads all day and not feel them… but i dont know what that other person means about the action rattling on the nova…they are good solid guns made in Italy

EDIT: i persoanlly have not shot deer with a super nova but i have shot slugs through a tactical model which had a pistol grip and a rifled slug barrel and i was very cumfy to shoot and perty acurate

Go with the super nova it is a tough gun and can handle abuse. It shoots good patterns and you can’t feel it when you shoot compared to the 870 and other guns.
