Remington SPR 435 Shotgun?
I am looking to buy my first shotgun and I really like this gun. My local Wal-mart has it for 7 and I have done enough research to know that this is a good deal. My question was what some vets think about this purchase. Positive or negative feedback, I want everything. Any info on another gun is appreciated too. Thank you.

I would get the SPR but you either get a good one or a bad one and it can be hard to get parts for the SPR. I wanted to get one the first year remington offered them but I couldnt find one by the time I found one to buy I had enough money save to buy high dollar shotgun but I am going to get the spr for a back up shotgun.

The Remington Spartan (SPR) line is made in Russia, but it is still a Remington. I like them for the money they cost.
The SPR 435 12 gauge is a super magnum, and will handle 3.5" shells pretty easily. The only problems I have noticed with it is that the gas seal rings require replacing every 500 rounds or so. This may be due to the ultra high power goose loads I have been shooting through it.

Russian firearms have a reputation for lacking quality control, and I have seen it before in the SPR (Baikal) shotguns. The folks down at the gun shop say to avoid them like the plague. CZ used to make a very good auto-loader for the same price as the SPR, but it looks like they’re just making doubles these days. The Mossberg 930 is a very good auto-loader for the same price.
I would try and find the Mossberg. Buying those SPR guns is really a crap shoot. You might get a great gun, that will last a lifetime, or you might a chunk of metal that couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn.
