Semi auto shotgun…Charles Daly?

January 23rd, 2010 by eranio

What would be the best semi-automatic shotgun? But am trying to keep it on lower side, moneywise. What would hunters recommend? I’m looking at a Charles Daly ‘Field Hunter’ with a 28" barrel thats on sale for 300 dollars what would you guys and gals recommend?

Charles Daly shotguns are real good shotguns for the money.

When I used to shoot trap competitively, the coaches had bought 2 Charles Daly semi autos in both a 12 and 20 ga for ‘club guns’ so that if someone’s gun broke or they forgot it, they could use the club guns.
I’ve shot a Charles Daly many times before and I will recommend them to someone. They are fairly inexpensive and why would a bunch of gun smiths/coaches buy a gun that isn’t worth the money? lol

Remington….Browning….Benelli…….Charles Daly is a low end cheap shotgun….you may never have trouble with it but then again it may give you trouble constantly…..you get what you pay for

Saiga 12 gauge. Cost you about 500 bucks depending on where you live. More of a tactical style shotgun then hunting but its still a freakin shotgun. I’ve had mine for a couple months now and have put maybe 2 or 3 hundred rounds through it and never had an issue. Only drawback is that you cant use light load rounds on semi, it will fire them but you have to rack the charging handle back after each shot because they just don’t have enough force to load another round but that’s an issue you’ll have with any semi auto shotty. Plus it doubles as a very effective home defense weapon. You can get some high cap mags up to 12 rounds, 20 if you wanna shell out the cash for a drum mag. I cant think of anything id rather have against someone at those ranges then a semi auto high mag capacity shotty.

Go with a remington if you buy a cheap semi-auto most likely you will be waisting your money or you might get lucky and it will be the best gun you ever own. If you want a Cheap gun that is the most reliable shotgun ever made go for the Rem model 870 its a PUMP shotgun but it will never give you any problems unless you take it and start slamming it into trees as hard as you can. and they are only around $300 to $500 i hate semi-auto because they always jam at the worst possible time. I had a Browning A5 i was out duck hunting and right ar the birds we in range i shot the gun jammed i unjammed it shot again and it jammed again. But the 870 has never given me a problem in the 12 years ive owned it.

My friend owned a Charles Daley. He hated it. It jammed all the time. Save your money for a good semi-auto shotgun like a Remington or a Browning.

The Charles Daly will do what all the other Brands will do, but for a lot less $$$ at a reasonable price for a Good Shotgun.* Quality does not always have to cost you more.* Its not what you pay for something that matters, its what you get for what you pay.*…
