Semi Auto Shotgun For Home Protection?

Is it worth the extra cash to get an over under or semi auto shotgun for home protection . . or is the standard pump shotgun better for the price?

You can chamber more rounds with a semi-automatic or pump for that persistant intruder. Reloading is also faster. Side-by-side and over/under both require that the barrel be broken, the empties ejected, two fresh rounds inserted, and the barrel snapped back in place before firing another round.

The sound of the action on a pump shotgun is quite effective for home protection. Generally, they are more reliable as well. With practice, you can shoot a pump about as fast as you can accurately shoot a semi-auto.

It depends. I have a pump shotgun that I use. If I was going with a two shot I would go sideby side. If your thinking that After you’ve expended your two shots then your grabbing a pistol it might be alright. The semi gives you more rounds and falls under the keep it simple stupid rule more than an over/under because after you advance the first round into the chamber, you can keep shooting until you empty the magazine
