depending on the time of day, barometric pressure, and whats on TV right now, About half the answers are going to be "mossberg", the other half "870". Its a ford/chevy/dodge thing. They both work. Most people go with what they currently own. The magic 8 ball is just as accurate for an answer.

FWIW, I have owned both, and feel the 870 is a better smoother gun.

whichever happens to b cheaper when u go to buy it……other than that about the same just preference differences…..so whichever one u like more…. go to a guns store and handle them both….

It is more of a preference thing among ppl. Just like Tahoeguy said (it’s like asking ford, chevy, dodge, etc) different people like different things. I consider both to be nice and work as many others would. You see it’s all about preference and I am sure this question has been asked a ton of times (I know it has cuz I see it bout once a week at least) so I am here to tell you buy what you like more.

For defense the Mossberg is the better choice……

    They are both good guns.

The Mossberg, with proper care and normal use, will last a lifetime.

The Remington, with proper care and normal use, will still be going strong when your grandson gives it to his grandson!

Remington 870 Express, hands down. Flawless performance. If they break (which none of mine have), you can just throw them away and buy a new one for what you’ll be paying. Dependable, accurate, good value, what more would you want?! Good luck and have fun.
