I have a Benelli 12g Nova pump with a smooth bore field barrel. Currently im shooting rifled slugs through it. If i buy the rifled choke tube for it should i continue to shoot rifled slugs or switch to sabot slugs. It would seem to me that the rifling of the slugs would not agree with the rifling of the choke tube. All answers are greatly appreciated

I was cleaning my shotgun yesterday using Remington Brite Bore Bore cleaner. I got some on my jeans and shirt, and put spray and wash on them to get the stain out. Later, I washed them with other clothes, and the stain came out, but it left everything that I washed with it smelling like bore cleaner. I washed them again, and even soaked them in detergent for an hour, but the smell is still there. How can I get the smell out of the clothes?

Here is the situation. I have a Benelli Nova pump 28" barrel that I use and quite enjoy for dove and other bird hunting. I was told I could get a rifled barrel for it for deer hunting. As it turns out you can but they are SUPER hard to find and SUPER expensive. I believe Ithaca makes a 24" rifled barrel but I have heard of issues with it on the Nova.
So my question is what would be the best set up to hunt deer with what I got. Slugs, choke, sites, I wouldn’t think you would use a scope with a smooth bore slug but again I am not an expert by any means so if I am wrong, please advise. This will be my first deer hunt with this gun. Advice, technique, pointers, anything would be helpful. THANKS SO MUCH!

I went through 150 rounds this weekend and when inspecting my Remington 870 Express barrel, I realized that about 4 inches down the barrel from the receiver side, there is about a 1" black ring around the bore. I can’t remember if that has always been there, or not. If it’s not normal, how would I get rid of it. I’ve run a brush numerous times as well as patches….thanks!

I just bought my mossberg 590 12ga shotgun. I mainly bought it for home defence but my question is shells. It comes with the smooth bore barrel. Won’t rifled slugs damage a smooth barrel? When I was in the USMC we shot the benelli semi automatic shotguns and we had a mix of shot and slug loaded but I don’t remember if we had rifled barrels or not. I’d like to carry on the tradition of mixed load slug/shot. Will I need to buy a rifled barrel?

I recently purchased a 12g Benelli Nova from Dick’s. It came with the smooth bore barrel. The guy at the store told me to shoot rifled slugs. Will I be fine with the rifled slugs or should i go with maybe a rifled choke tube or the 24" rifled slug barrel? I can get the choke for like bucks but i dont think 3" of choke is enough rifling to make a difference. And if i go with the barrel, where the hell can I find one? Benelli shows it on there website but there is no button to click if you would like to buy it. I found one website but it was sold forr about 0!!! I paid less for the whole gun.. Any information would be appreciated.

I own a Mossberg 12 Gage shotgun with a smooth bore (no rifling’s). Will it hurt my shotgun if I use deer slugs?

So I have decided that I’m going to start my collection of competition shotguns and found that within my budget are the Mossberg Maverick 88 and the Stoeger 350 Pump. Neither of the models I have in mind use the pistol grips. Both are smooth bore, although the Stoeger comes with 5 chokes.
As far as construction is concerned I have felt the Mossberg and for some reason the base pump feels flimsy. I have yet to handle the Stoeger though I am aware that it is also synthetic but also a longer weapon.
Anyone have any personal experience with either weapon? I would like to know your take on the individual constructions and the viability of them as competition pieces.
Thanks everyone.

What kind of slugs can I shoot from a Maverick 88 shotgun with a smooth bore and a smooth modified choke? Rifled/Nonrifled? Etc. Etc. Please back up your comment with a webpage that can prove your point. Thanks.
Also, it is a 12 GA
it takes 2 3/4 and 3 in shells

i have a Remington model 1100 20 GA. shotgun with a rifles slug barrel for deer. I’m trying to get into waterfowl without buying a new gun. I’m having some trouble finding a cheap smooth bore bird barrel for it.

We have different gauges in shotguns, wat exactly mean by gauges.
In hunting regulations its mentioned we have to use less than 10 gauges for hunting small animals and birds.
is it still 10 gauge guns available in the market.
In wisconsin less than 10 gauge is leagal for small game hunting it seems. I heard the Gauge is some thing to do with the diameter of the bore

I am going to be hunting white tail deer this season, with a shotgun for the first time. My barrel is a smooth bore barrel, so I am wondering what kind of choke I should use, if I want to use, slugs, buckshot or sabot rounds. If anyone has any info it would be appreciated.
The current choke in my barrel is a Remington Mod Choke.

I have a Remington 870 Express shotgun, and I was just wondering if the stock smooth bore barrel would with a Improved Cylinder choke tube would fire rifled slugs. Besides the Improved Cylinder choke, I also have the stock Modified choke tube.

Is it a rifled barrel or a smooth bore barrel? Nowhere on the company’s website does it indicate.

I got a remington 870 express magnum shotgun with the shorter barrel on it for deer hunting. How do I determine if it is rifled or not? Are they usually rifled. I opened chamber and looked down barrel and it looks pretty smooth but I am not sure.
Tell me if I am correct. If gun is rifled then you want sabot slugs.
If gun is smooth bore than you want rifled slugs.
thanks for helping me out folks.
