I am a 14 yr old boy that wants a new 12 ga. shotgun. I have 3 guns in mind; the benelli SBEII, Browning Maxus?

April 18th, 2011 by eranio

, and the beretta xtrema 2. i want a gun with semi-light recoil and will last me pretty much my whole life. i like the maxus because it is so light and semi inexpensive. i like the benelli because my dad has one and it is very reliable. and lastly i like the beretta because it seems to have the lightest recoil. which gun would u prefer? i ususally hunt duck and geese but the ducks are usually flybys so i need a gun that swings easy. thanks for your help
and i live in calif. wher the temp dosnt get below 35 degrees. so the maxus is a bad gun?

What country song involves a dad on his porch with a Shotgun/Gun?

April 15th, 2011 by eranio

I have the music and part of the lyrics stuck in my head but cant figure out the song. It’s about the singer having a girl in the seat next ot him in his car and as they pull up to her drive way they see her dad outside on the porch with a shotgun. So he drives off.

I think part of the lyrics involves. "I was thinking bout a pretty little girl sitting next to me" could be wrong idk. Please Help! Thanks!

Can I get a rifled barrel for my Remington model 1100?

April 15th, 2011 by eranio

My grandpa is giving me his 1100 12 gauge and my dad might buy land by my house and it’s in a shotgun zone for deer hunting, and I want to know if I could get an interchangeable rifled barrel or if it would be eaiser to use rifled slugs or a muzzleloader.

How come in a good chunk of states Buck Shot is illegal?

April 13th, 2011 by eranio

This past hunting season i was going to use my grandpa’s Mossberg 20 gauge pump shotgun but i didn’t due to that i bruised my shoulder firing a similar shotgun. Anyway when my dad and i went to a Gander Mountain to buy rounds for the shotgun i thought we could use buck shot but the guy there said that in Minnesota and in several other states Buck Shot is illegal. My question is, why is it illegal? Is it because on how much damage it can do to someone?

Why did my shotgun come with a wooden stick in it?

March 27th, 2011 by eranio

I just bought a shotgun, a Mossberg 12 gauge. All I know about guns is very basic–I’m a decent shot and just a notice user, so I know about loading/unloading, a little about cleaning (now that I own my own I need to learn more), etc. All I have shot before is my dad’s old 12 gauge, so I’ve never bought a gun new. This may be a completely stupid question, but all the same I’d appreciate some info from people who know more than I do :) I heard something moving back and forth when I lifted the bottom part of the gun (sorry I don’t know the technical terms, but what I mean is the big piece of the gun that’s separate from the barrel) to screw the barrel on. I held it down so the thing would slide forwards, and it’s a small wooden stick thing with two rubber circles on either end–again, it’s not in the barrel, it’s in the tube right below the barrel (magazine tube?). What is this little stick, and does it stay in the gun or not??? Again, sorry if this is a dumb, obvious question, but it’s not obvious to me so I thought I’d ask. Thank you in advance.
Thanks so much guys. I won’t be using mine for hunting either, just for fun shooting and home defense (though hopefully I never have to use it for the latter), so I’ll just take it out. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t removing some crucial piece that would cause it to fire incorrectly. Thanks again!

What can I hunt with a Benelli Cordoba/Henry Golden Boy?

March 8th, 2011 by eranio

My dad just bought me these two guns in California. Pickin them up in 10 days becuz of the background inspection. I just wana know what kind of game I could potentially hunt with these guns. The benelli is a 12 g and the GB is a .22. BTW..i’ve never shot a gun b4…im kinda nervous about the kick of the shotgun but my dad’s telling me that since the cordoba is the top of the line in benelli..it barely comes with recoil…should i believe him? lol. I’m actually thinking of getting an air gun 2.

Remington 870 or Benelli Supernova? Or another, if you should vehemently suggest…?

February 14th, 2011 by eranio

This will be my first shotgun that I buy personally. I have an ancient Revelation (of which I can’t even find the manufacterer), but it broke at my last shoot, and I want to fix and preserve it, as it has a family history. The only shooting I really do for now is shoot clay pigeons, and only then once in a while. I have researched many different guns extensively, and believe these two to be the best options. I really like the ComforTech System by Benelli, but does it *actually* reduce recoil as much as Benelli says it does? And how reliable is the Supernova? I know that the 870 has been a favorite ever since 1950. My dad has an 870 Wingmaster from 20 years ago that still works as if he just bought it, so reliability is not a question. I just want something more modern, lets say (a reason I am leaning toward the Supernova). The reason I ask on YAHOO is becuase I want unbiased answers. Many forums (and subsequently their opinions) are dominated by fans of a certain brand. Thank you.

What Benelli shotgun is best for Dad?

February 9th, 2011 by eranio

I really want to get my dad a Benelli 12ga. shotgun for christmas, but I’m not sure which one. I hunt as well and i usually take my remington 870 express, I don’t want to get him an automatic, cause every auto we have ever had we have had a problem with, and we hunt at a club and we run deer dogs ( walkers mostly, a few beagles though) and we have dogs we field trial too. Which Benelli would be best for him? I really want to get him one for christmas because hes been wanting one for a while now. Has anyone had any problems with their Benellis? I know alot of the benellis are popular with the bird hunters, but like i said we dont bird hunt. Any help would be greatt! :) :)

Benelli Supernova recoil vs old 870 Wingmaster?

February 4th, 2011 by eranio

I’ve been shooting an old 1960s Remington 870 Wingmaster that my dad passed down to me. The recoil is manageable but stout even with the lighter loads (since it’s an older Wingmaster it only takes 2.75" shells). I’m looking to purchase a new pump and try to preserve the old antique Wingmaster. I’m 99% sure I’m going to wind up buying the Benelli Supernova. My question is, will the recoil feel "softer" with the Benelli considering it’s newer and has the Comfortech stock and recoil pad? The Wingmaster is so old it doesn’t even have any recoil pad. When using the same loads in each gun can I expect the Benelli to have more manageable recoil? I want to do a lot of clay shooting on my property with it and don’t want my shoulder to be all beat up. By the way I’m 6 feet tall and weigh around 170 pounds.
Thanks everyone for your replies, I really appreciate it. I’m a bit confused as I’m getting conflicting reports. Some are saying recoil is lighter on the Benelli and others saying it’s brutal. I would love to get more opinions on thee supernova as I’m looking to make a purchase soon. The only other gun I’ve considered is the Browning BPS. I will mainly be shooting clays with 2.75" shells with 1oz to 1-1/8oz shot. To the person suggesting an auto, I currently own a 1100 20 gauge from the 90s, I just prefer the pump for reliability as my 1100 has problems ejecting certain shells.

I am 14 and i want to buy a shotgun but my parents won't let me (PLEASE HEAR ME OUT)?

January 22nd, 2011 by eranio

My parents won’t let me buy a shotgun with my own money because they are afraid of safety issues.
But my dad has 2 semiautomatic assault rifles that we shoot regularly. He keeps the firing pins hidden and the rest under lock and key. So if he does the same with the shotgun I want to buy there is no more danger right. The only reason my parents wont let me buy it is because it is a firearm.
I know that you have to be 18 to buy it so it would technically be theirs
Are my parents being unfair?

How do I tell what kind of shotgun I have?

December 28th, 2010 by eranio

My great grandfather left my dad a double barrel shotgun that has been sitting in our attic since he got it. My dad has no interest in it and refuses to do anything to find out its make or what kind of shells it takes. I have searched all over it for some form of identifying it, a serial number, a manufacturers logo or whatever and I cant find anything. It is a break action double barrel but thats all I know,

Benelli Supersport price?

December 23rd, 2010 by eranio

So my dad just went to the local gunstore today and bought a benelli supersport. The problem is he bought it for $ 2799. I checked online and all the other supersport 20g were around 1800. So what’s so special about his gun?? Did he just get ripped off?? Could we sue the gunstore?
