My grandpa is giving me his 1100 12 gauge and my dad might buy land by my house and it’s in a shotgun zone for deer hunting, and I want to know if I could get an interchangeable rifled barrel or if it would be eaiser to use rifled slugs or a muzzleloader.

Hello, Is a 2-7X32 Nikon Prostaff a good scope for deer hunting with a 12gauge Mossberg 500 with a fully rifled slug barrel? Will this scope hold up to the recoil? Is it too much power for slug hunting? Is there any better scopes for around 0?
I know I don’t need a scope for deer hunting, but I want and prefer using a scope!
Thanks

I was thinking about getting a 12 guage mossberg 500 field. I will be using it for deer, dove, phesant and squirrel. I see that I can buy a seperate deer barrel for deer hunting, but I was wondering if I had to. Could I just use the regular shotgun with slugs without buying anything extra and if not why?

Looking for a cheap reliable pump action 12Gauge shotgun for deer hunting under 500 bucks.
I’m looking at the Remington 870 Express Shotgun and at a few mossberg shotguns.
I think I might go with the Remington 870 Express Deer Pump Shotgun not sure yet though.

I’m looking to buy a pump shotgun but can’t decide whether I want one designed more for home protection, hunting, deer hunting or clay target shooting. Is there a model that facilitates barrel changes easier and more economically than others?

I have had the gun since 1969, my brother gave it to me as a birthday present and I used it for deer hunting in Maine. Have not used it since 1980. It was cleaned and put away until recently, I rediscovered it. It has a plain barrel and on the side it states that it accepts 2 3/4 shell or shorter. Thanks for your time… Phil H.

okay im a huge fan of shotguns i currently have a winchester 1300 remington 870 express a remington 870 wingmaster and a browning a-5 all are great in the own ways but i want a shotgun i can use for EVERYTHING in the south eastern united states this is for dove ducks rabbit deer black bear. now this is what i want and yall tell me the gun i need i want a 12 gauge chamberd for 3 1/2 shells pump action with a 30” or longer barrel i know people are going to say get anouther 870 chamberd for 3 1/2 but i have not seen one with a 30” or longer barrel if i can not find a gun with a 3 1/2 chamber and 30”+ barrel im ganna settle with a benelli nova oh and i will buy a gun and buy a after market barrel
my 87 is chamberd for 3” it want cycle 3 1/2
i have a winchester with a 30” and yall are wrong a longer barrel keeps the shot in tighter for longer distances think about it a 18” barrel want shoot as accurate as a 28” and a 28” want shoot as far as a 30” i just like the 30” im a real big guy 6"3 280 pounds and these long toms are just as easy to manouver threw the woods as i am and i like 3 1/2 00 buck shot when im deer hunting i am a firm beleaver in buck shot and with my winchester 12 gauge 30” barrel extra full choke im not scared to shoot one with buckshot at 65 yards it patterns so good i wanted the 3 1/2 oo buck because it has twice as many pellets and a long barrel ( i guess im going to settle with a nova 28”) and a extra full choke i figured id be on at around 80 yards. but i guess im going to get a 28” barrel now whats this i here about the mossberg? is it a good gun?

i’m looking in to buying a new shotgun, my last one was a shotgun that my father had given me that he had owned since he was in his 20′s. living in upstate new york i use it primarily for deer hunting. i’ve never looked at buying a new gun so i dont know what to look for or which ones are considered quality.
i was looking at a pump, possibly between 0 and 0.
