what gauge should i get? plz help

I have a 12-gauge single barrel shotgun and a .22 semi-automatic longrifle that I want to sell legally, because they are both registered under my name, I have a vali F.O.I.D. card and dont wanna have any troule with the law, I live in Chicago, IL county of COOK and have no idea where to go to find a potential buyer for my weapons,

I need a shotgun for under 0, and i want it to be able to hunt dove, squirrel, turkey, duck, and geese with it (i have a slug gun for deer.) I can not decide between anything i find. It has to be a 12 gauge 3 1/2inch because of the waterfowl.

I have done the research and decided that i want a pump action over an automatic.

I have read some automatics will not cycle 2 3/4inch shells.

Unless someone can say a shotgun that can confirm the a shotgun that is chambered in 3 1/2inch chamber can cycle a 2 3/4inch then i am only wanting a pump.

I also know that there is not (to me) that much of a noticeable difference in cycle times between a pump and an automatic.

I am also going to want one with wetland camo due to the fact that i like waterfowl hunting the most, if not then i will just get a wood and metal version.

So can someone tell me a gun that will fit my few needs.
well i just did some research again and it looks as if i will be buying a browning bps or Remington 870, can someone clarify which would be better for my needs.
i now found that some Beretta’s are nice, if anyone can tell me which on is the nicest or best between these 3(i will hopefully use these for my whole life) then that would be nice.

nevermind….forget the guns, just say what you guys think are the best for a lifetime, i will not spend more the 0 though
ok…i am deciding between a remington 870 supermag, and can anyone tell me a really good cheap automatic?

Any other info on and Ithaca Model 37 or A "Champion" 16 Guage shotgun will help also
Thanks Alot
The Ithaca Is a 16 Gauge and the champion is also a 16 Gauge. The guns have been passed down throught my family and I am an avid bird hunter. I love my Ithaca and just wanted to know a little more about it
The champion is a singleshot. All three have 28" Barrels and my reaserch found it to be about 90 years old. The Ithaca is a model 37 featherlight.
Hope this helps
Thanks

I am looking for a shotgun at around 0-0. I am going to hunt rabbit, squirrel, turkey, and deer. I may eventually go waterfowl or dove, but i have other guns for that. I will buy a slug barrel for deer. My dad asked our local gun store dealers for tips on what to do, and they said any mossberg or remington will do fine, but make sure i get a mossberg barrel(yes there is mossberg barrels for remington guns, and i have been told that those barrels are the best, if anyone has anything to debate over that then say so.) So try to limit it to remington or mossberg. Here are my questions and statements.

Is a 20 or 12 better(i can handle a 10, and i love recoil, so no real need for 20 unless you guys suggest it.)

For the turkey, squirrel, and rabbit should i use a full or modified choke?
Should i get an automatic or a pump?

Is there any specific model you suggest, and if there is give me reasons why.

The gun needs to be able to be put through abuse, and weather.

I am wanting it to be wood, with a blued barrel, but it can be synthetic, but it HAS to have a blued barrel.

I want it to be reliable, and last me at least 30 years if I take care of it.

I want a 3inch for both, but if it is an automatic it has to be a 3inch which can also shoot a 2 3/4inch just as easy as a 3inch, but if it is a pump, it can be a 3 1/2 inch.

I will buy the slug barrel in the future, so the gun itself can be anywhere between my price range.

If there are any more questions please feel free to ask, but answers will have to wait until i get out of school first. Please put your input and any suggestions, give me good explanations and reasons to help me out please because i have been looking for a good 2 months and have not really narrowed it down to a lot of things, and Christmas is coming up soon and i am going to ask for this shotgun for Christmas. Thanks.
Ok lets fix some things up, i will only use th 10 gauge i said for waterfowl and waterfowl only, not everything…i know a 12 is bigger than a 20….and mountain man shutup because i am 14 and i have shot guns since i was 5, so shutup with your stupid comments i see on every questions.
Ok it looks like it will be a remington 870(someone suggest a model) or a mossberg…which one should i choose?

I’m looking to get a shotgun for skeet shooting and home defense. (Don’t plan on hunting). I’m looking at a Mossberg 590 12 gauge. One of my big questions is what’s the diff for barrel length, I’ve heard shorter is better for defense. It seemed to me longer is better for distance but then I heard that the barrel length doesn’t really affect the ballistics that much when you skeet shooting?

Advice on make/model/barrel length?

Ok all you gun-nuts. Need your help I.Ding a shotgun. Remington made a semi-auto shotgun a few years back, when I say a few years I mean 2 or 3…maybe even last year, it had a stainless reciever, blued barrel (12 gauge), came broken down in a green plastic box (not cardboard). It may have been a variation of the 1100 or the 11-87, but if it is, it must have been a special or limited edition as I don’t see it anywhere on Remingtons website now. All-in-all it looked like a fancy 1100 or 11-87 but with a stainless reciever and maybe some engraving?

I recently inherited a couple of shotguns. I’d never sell them because of who they belonged to. But, for insurance purposes, I need to figure out a ball park estimate of their value.

One is a Remington 11-48 12 guage semi auto.

the other is Savage model 30 series E 20 gauge pump.

Anyone give me a guess?

Would a hand held sawn-off shotgun like you often see in action movies really work, or would the kick either break your wrist or send the gun into your face? What if you used a smaller shotgun, such as a 20 gauge?
Just so everyone knows, I’m not planning to do this, I just wonder about it every time I see an action movie with one in it.

i have a winchester model 140 20 gauge semi auto shotgun, it’s suppose to be a 3 shot auto loader, but i can only put 1 shell into the barrel/chamber……and 1 into the magazine, when i try putting the 3rd one in the magazine it will go most of the way in, but not all the way…..what’s the reason for this…..and also when i try ejecting the shells, the one in the barrel comes out fine, but the other one gets jammed like half way between the ejection port and the magazine, it goes all cock-eyed and wont come out…thats the best way to put it…hope someone can help.

My grandpa and i want to buy rifled barrels for our shotguns he has a model 88 mossberg maverick 12 gauge we went to walmart to order our barrels and they cant order one for the maverick the guy said that he thinks that the model 500 barrel will fit it but wasnt for sure does anyone know FOR SURE if it does or doesnt

I am trying to find a semi auto 12 gauge camo shotgun for duck seaon. I dont feel like spending 00 or anything so far I am looking at a Stoeger M2000 for 9 that shoots 2 3/4 and 3" shells. But I heard that they have a lot of problems and stuff. I am also looking at the Charles Daly VR-MC Adv Max 4 HD gun for 5… got any other guns that are good?
I have a Remington 11-87 Synthetic but I want a camo gun that wont rust. I dont have 0 to spend on a gun, more like 400-450

I was looking to buy a shotgun today for home defense, and was wondering if the Mossberg 500 Tactical Cruiser 12 Gauge would be a good choice. Here is a picture of it.

I am not interested in any rifle, semi-auto, or revolver. I only want to know if this shotgun is an excellent choice or not?

Got curious from the debate my previous question sparked. So here it goes: what is the best all purpose shotgun that I can buy new or used for under 0? Preferably a 12 gauge…

I’m looking to get a 20 gauge for hunting and etc, you know pheasants and rabbits, squirrels etc. And I haven’t gotten a new shotgun in awhile and obviously I’m looking for a new one and I’m looking for people’s opinions of the best shotguns that aren’t tactical looking and are more of a classic hunter look. I appreciate your opinions and perspectives very much, thanks.

i’m looking for a new semi-auto shotgun (on a budget) and am pondering the H&R Excell Auto 5 or the Weatherby SA08. either one in 12 or 20 gauge. so what are your opinions on either gun?

skeet/trap use shooting light loads

I have a 1956 Remington 20 gauge shotgun in very good condition. I am looking for approx. value.

My brother just bought a Mossberg Silver Reserve Over/Under 12 gauge, do the 2 barrels fire one after another like an auto, or do you have to switch the barrel selector for each shot?

I want to set up for max. accuracy to 150 yds. for deer hunting where rifle not allowed. What is the best setup. I think a 20 gauge maybe mag. , auto for less kick . ? any help with the setup will be appreciated
