I have a Mossberg 500 Persuader (originally pistol grip configuration) 8 shot, with an oem heat shield. I’ve recently bought a mossberg ghost ring kit which I intend to install on the shotgun. My question is: if I install the ghost ring front sight, will this impair me from being able to remove the heat shield for cleaning/etc.

I’m in th market for this shotgun, but I do not like the big ass "ghost ring" sights it comes with. To me sights on a shot gun are just useless, especially since I’m not gonna be shooting at anything from more than 10 to 12 yards out as this will be primarily a home defense weapon. The beaded sight my el cheapo Mossberg Maverick 88 seems sufficient enough!

I recently got a Mossberg 500A 12guage shotgun, and plan on using it for home/self defense. I bought a stock already, and plan on buying a ghost ring sight. When I took it to the range, I was unhappy with the spread I was getting in my pellets. What is the best choke for this purpose for a shotgun, what type of ammunition do you suggest, and how do you go about changing the choke on this style of shotgun?
I want to add that I don’t see any threads on the inside of my barrel, like a nut. Will the choke tubes still screw in without one, or do I need to but a whole new barrel? If so, do you hav suggestions on which kind and where to buy them?

Went on the Benelli site and they’re selling a 12 ga. synthetic called The NOVA entry14.5" . It’s advertised as a short barrel shotgun for home defense with a Ghost ring sight. Is this something out of the ordinary and legal ?

I’m looking for a home defense shotgun and I have chosen the Remington 870. I like the fact that the Remington 870 tactical has the ability to put in a choke, but I heard the grey powder coat will chip off just from use, and not hard use. Do they offer other finishes that are better for this shotgun? I saw they had blasted black oxide finish, but I believe that only comes with the ghost rings, and I just want bead sights on this shotgun.

I’ve got up to 0 to work with, to buy and accessorize my shotgun. I’m torn between the saiga 12, a mossberg 590A1, remington 1100 tac-4, mossberg 930 road blocker!
