I just turned 18 today (February 28th) and I am going to the gun shop to buy my first shotgun. I have my firearms safety course graduation certificate thats got my address, name, and DOB on it. Do I need picture ID or am I good to go?
I live in Connecticut, and either Cabela’s or Hoffman Guns.

I recently got my first shotgun, a Mossberg 500 combo.

I know the basics, the difference between a slug, buckshot and birdshot but want to know about the different types of these loads….
Give me an overview, what is 00 Buckshot? what is light target? what is the most powerful load of buckshot? the least powerful load? ditto for birdshot….
What type of slug is hardest hitting? is there a difference between lead and steel shot?
non lethal slugs? etc..
Any information on ammo types would be greatly appreciated.

(LOL, I went to the gun shop and bought Winchest AA 8-shot light target ammo… then realized is really not a good ammo for home defense.. so guide me in the right direction for Home Defense ammo type) thanks!

I live in a VERY crowded city, in an upstairs apartment, so I want something like 00 Buckshot I take it….. also it is a very ghetto city, hence why I bought the gun…
(I know, I know, move out of the ghetto right? Saving for a house/just graduated from college… so the ghetto area is my only option at the moment… lol)

I’v been looking at some 20 and 410 shotguns, and have really had my eye on them, their both priced very nice, the Rossi is about 0.00 and the Remington is I think around 0.00 at my local gun shop. If I go with the Rossi, I’ll be getting the 410, and if I go with the Remington, it’l be a 20 gauge, this also will just be a squirrel/rabitt gun, so not that important.

I was considering purchasing a shotgun, but I don’t want to have to go too far from my town. It’s much closer for me to go to the gun shop in Delaware. However, I have a Maryland driver’s license. Do I have to wait the same as if it was a handgun? Does it have to be transferred to a Maryland dealer?

I have a Stevens 12 gauge smooth bore medium choke shotgun. It doesn’t have threads for installing different sized choke tubes in at the end of the barrel. I heard it is possible to bring it to a gun shop and have them drill threads in the barrel for different coke tubes. Is this true? If so, how expensive would it be to do it?

Hopefully someone can answer my question. A friend of mine does house clearances and has found a very old shotgun, he is not sure what to do with the gun as it is worth upwards of £1000. As far as we know the gun has been in an attic for years and was probably not registered ever. I myself hold a shotgun licence. Is there anyway of adding the gun to my shotgun certificate so the gun becomes legal? I can then sell it through a gun shop for my friend? Thanks in advance Ollie

im getting one for target practice and home defense and the gun shop by my house only sells ruger,S&W,benelli and glock i don’t want a glock because it has no external safeties and i have a 4 year old child in the house and im not locking for anything more than 450$

my friend bought a mossberg 500a shotgun in columbus ohio, he has gone to the military and gave it to me to keep permanetly. I want to sell the gun, do i have to do anything before walking into the gun shop with the gun?, such as change title? or what do i have to go through and if so how do i do it? i am 18 years old.

I found one in a 16 gauge in the local Gun Shop with a Patent Date on it of April 20, 1920.* It is not a Damascus Barreled, it is steel barrels.* Any information on it please.*

I have a side by side double barrel 10 gauge shotgun that I purchased new in 1975. It says on it….Made For Parker in Marixa Eibar Spain. I used it quite a bit years ago for goose hunting and painted it with a flat camo paint that should come off easily. It’s been well cared for. I haven’t used it in years and would like to sell it but have no idea what the value might be. I contacted a local gun shop but they were no help and offered me next to nothing for it sight unseen. Second thing I was wondering is what does it mean to have a modified choke and what does it mean to have the barrel riffled?
Ok, maybe I should be a little more specific so I don’t come off as as completely ignorant. I have shot guns all my life and have taken the hunter’s ed class. I know what a riffled barrel is. More specifically I guess I should have asked what the purpose of a riffled barrel in a shotgun was? Is it specifically for slugs or something? I don’t have too much experience with shotguns. Not as much as with my handguns and rifles. I have never owned a shotgun. I have been interested in getting one for awhile.
