allright i love tactical looking guns and so we have a Remington 870 tactical (folding stock, 18" barrel, etc). so if i wanted to use this for bird hunting, instead of buying a new shotgun, could i just go over to gander mountain and pick up a remington 870 hunting barrel and swap it with the tactical one? would it work?

also, i was thinking about just buying a new hunting shotgun anyway (remington 870 express). can i put tactical foregrips/stocks on this?

I am 20, Someone told me that in michigan you need to be 18 to buy shotguns, but need to be 21 to buy rifles, can someone clear this up? is there seperate ages for different guns? or just one age for all? Thanks

My question is: I’m gonig to get a shotgun for sporting clays, and also for hunting. Would a black synthetic be ok to use for hunting also? I don’t want a camo becasue I will be shooting clays 85% of the time, but I don’t want to guns. One top line gun, and i’m done. Once again will I be ok with black syn. Thanks

I just bought a shotgun, a Mossberg 12 gauge. All I know about guns is very basic–I’m a decent shot and just a notice user, so I know about loading/unloading, a little about cleaning (now that I own my own I need to learn more), etc. All I have shot before is my dad’s old 12 gauge, so I’ve never bought a gun new. This may be a completely stupid question, but all the same I’d appreciate some info from people who know more than I do I heard something moving back and forth when I lifted the bottom part of the gun (sorry I don’t know the technical terms, but what I mean is the big piece of the gun that’s separate from the barrel) to screw the barrel on. I held it down so the thing would slide forwards, and it’s a small wooden stick thing with two rubber circles on either end–again, it’s not in the barrel, it’s in the tube right below the barrel (magazine tube?). What is this little stick, and does it stay in the gun or not??? Again, sorry if this is a dumb, obvious question, but it’s not obvious to me so I thought I’d ask. Thank you in advance.
Thanks so much guys. I won’t be using mine for hunting either, just for fun shooting and home defense (though hopefully I never have to use it for the latter), so I’ll just take it out. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t removing some crucial piece that would cause it to fire incorrectly. Thanks again!

I just bought a brand new Mossberg 500 from Dunham’s (A sporting goods retail store). I picked it up with the barrel towards the ground,and when I put the barrel to the ceiling I herd something slide down it. So I took the barrel off and tipped it over and a 5-6 inch dial rod poked its head out of the front of the tube magazine. I had rube stoppers on it so it looked like it should be there but I’m new to guns and don’t know for sure can any one help?

This will be my first shotgun that I buy personally. I have an ancient Revelation (of which I can’t even find the manufacterer), but it broke at my last shoot, and I want to fix and preserve it, as it has a family history. The only shooting I really do for now is shoot clay pigeons, and only then once in a while. I have researched many different guns extensively, and believe these two to be the best options. I really like the ComforTech System by Benelli, but does it *actually* reduce recoil as much as Benelli says it does? And how reliable is the Supernova? I know that the 870 has been a favorite ever since 1950. My dad has an 870 Wingmaster from 20 years ago that still works as if he just bought it, so reliability is not a question. I just want something more modern, lets say (a reason I am leaning toward the Supernova). The reason I ask on YAHOO is becuase I want unbiased answers. Many forums (and subsequently their opinions) are dominated by fans of a certain brand. Thank you.

I’ve been debating over this for about 2 weeks now. I am looking for my first shotgun and are stuck between the 870 and the nova. I read that the 870 rust easy. Is that true? Well, I don’t want to spend more than 400-500 on it. Both my cousins own the 870 and the other owns the benelli. They said that both guns are good but whats the difference? which do you prefer? The Remington 870 is 200.00 (in camo finish) and the benelli is 409.00 (also in camo) I will use it mainly for hunting doves, turkeys, and probably squirrels. which gun will be a better choice?
but i have heard that the remington 870 rust after just the first time out in the field? is that true? anyone experienced that before? I want it to last a long time so that I may pass it down to my kids too…

i want to buy my first shotgun. I have been shooting guns for 5 years. i would use the shotgun for trap & skeet, and maybe hunting once a year. i have 0. i feel comfortable with 12, 16, and 20 gauge. i would prefer a semi auto.

I am really impressed with Benelli’s technology and the aesthetic appeal of their guns but I was wondering if I should get either a Nova pump or a Supernova pump action or if I should get a pump Remington 870 Express?

I basically want something for turkey hunting and skeet shooting as well as home defense. Can you help?

The Orion shells fit with minor trimming of the shell’s plastic edge and extract the same as other 12ga loads…

In a pinch, for survival reasons or temporary illumination, could you fire the flare without damaging your shotgun?

Ok guys i am decided on either one of these guns. I will be using it for deer, phesant, turkey. Should I go with the benelli nova or benelli super nova. I am on a very tight budget here. What do you get for the extra $ 100 when you buy the nova over the super nova?

i am looking at a new pump shotgun. does anyone have any experience with either of these guns, good or bad? i am looking for personal opinions for both. i am leaning towards the benelli supernova because i have read great reviews about it, it is a newer model and i want something more modern looking. does anyone have any suggestions?

I’m not a collector but have a philosophy that a good handgun and a shotgun in the house are a pretty good start to home protection.

That said, I have a CZ 75 as my night stand protection and CURRENTLY a mossberg 500 shotgun. The Mossberg is fine but I’m a gun snob and there’s an ad for decent deal on the Benelli Nova.

Two questions.
Would you agree that if you just owned a couple of guns for home protection that a solid 9mm and a shotgun would be wise?

I was thinking of selling the mossberg for 0 and spending another 0 for the Benelli. Just because it seems like a cooler gun. Worth it?

This looks like a decent shotgun for home defense. I’ve looked in Pawn Shops, and I can’t find anything that would be decent for home defense. Mostly long and bulky guns, and their too much money. Does this look like a decent gun? I’m just trying to get people’s opinions.

I’ve also checked all the WalMart’s around my area and none of them sell guns.

I don’t want to buy a gun that’s going to fall apart on me, I just want something that I can throw in my closet if I need to use it in case of a home invasion, and something I can take to my Grandpas lakehouse in the woods every 2 years or so.

First I’ll start by saying I know nothing about guns and specs, but I do know that I want one for recreational use…

My friend has a 12-gauge Remington Shotgun and she mostly does target practice with it but Last weekend she went out to hunt some Ptarmigan.. she didn’t find any unfortunately.

I want something that I can buy that I can use to go along with her.. i won’t be shooting much, but I’d like it to be a shotgun.

Any suggestions on specific models? Why?
