I'm looking for upgrades for my Benelli Nova Pump?

September 13th, 2010 by eranio

I’ve Googled it for the past 3 hours and was very unsuccessful in finding what I’m looking for. I want to turn my benelli into more of a home defense weapon because I’ve moved into a more aggressive neighborhood. but the stock gun is WAY to big and cumbersome to effectively maneuver through a house. I was wondering if anyone knew of different models of guns which aftermarket equipment would fit onto my benelli, or something else that might work, I’m open to most any ideas.

Thanks in advance,
Ben

My benelli shotgun kicks like a mule. I bought a primos tightwad choke for it, but it still kicks HARD?

September 12th, 2010 by eranio

I bought this gun to hunt turkey and I shoot 3" number 6′s. Man it kicks hard. It is a new gun and I am the first and only one to ever shoot it.
OK, I didn’t need to have any jerks answering my question. And yes I am more than man enough to shoot any gun I want. I have several and have been shooting guns for almost 40 years. I was asking for advice on recoil.

What do you think of the Benelli Supernova as a first shotgun?

September 7th, 2010 by eranio

My friend who is a fairly avid hunter, suggests i get a 12 gauge version of the gun, I know benelli is a very good brand and these guns are relatively cheap. so what is your opinion?

Benelli Automatic Rifle or Browning Automatic Rifle?

September 4th, 2010 by eranio

I am recoil sensitive. I get detached retinas easily. I need a low recoil rifle that fires a high powered bullet. Because of the economy, people are selling their guns like crazy here in Los Angeles. I can get a Browning Automatic Rifle in .270, or a Benelli .30-06, either one for 0. Which should I get?

Shotgun for Summer, and everything else, Mossberg vs Remington and other?

August 22nd, 2010 by eranio

I’m thinking about getting a new/ good condition shotgun over the Summer, shotguns are the one thing me and my father don’t have many of, maybe only 3 or more, the ones I know of are a double barrel break action 20 gauge, a long barreled goose 12 gauge and one other which I’ve forgotten what it was. So I’ve decided by the end of Summer I should pick one up. I want something for just walking around in the woods, maybe home defense and SHTF "hey, you never know" I want a pump action, synthetic stock to start with, 12 gauge shotgun, I’ve looked at the Mossberg 500 and Rem 870 and I know there’s a lot of debates over them, and I’m not asking for that, just what you guys think of them, I want something to that has a lot of capacity, I’m not much of a shotgun man so I know every little about models, I also want one with out an internal choke so I can shoot slugs out of it, but possibly an adapter at the end to install one. And if any of you could give me almost a full review of any guns that might suit my needs would be amazing. Sorry if anything may sound novice level but like I said, I’m not a shotgun man, I just learned how a choke worked a few days ago. Thanks. Price isn’t a major deal but let’s try to keep it as low as possible.
I looked on Gunbroker and it looks like I’d be paying from 0-0 for a Mossberg 500
Yes I know this question has been brought up so much, too bad, but I’m not asking Vs of the two, just your thoughts and/or any other models, I’m not asking for self def so relax, but a high cab, pump action, reliable shotgun.
With as much capacity as I can possibly get out of a pump action, tube feed shotgun.
I think I’m leaning towards the Mossberg 500 or 590, but ammo’s a b!@#$ so I’ll have to find the best deal I can.

which shotgun should I get? Remington 870 or Moss 500? Any suggestions?

August 14th, 2010 by eranio

I’m going to sell an M1 Carbine (new model Auto Ordnance) and pick up a shotgun. I only want 2 guns. I have a CZ 75 P-01 9mm and I want one rifle which I probably won’t use very much, just to have stored in case of emergency.

I can sell the m1 for around 0. I was thinking of getting either a Mossberg 500 or the remington 870 as a shotgun to keep in the closet.

I don’t want anything fancy, just a solid, utility gun.

What do you recommend? Either of these? I figure I could pick one up for 0. Any need to spend more? That way I can put the rest of the cash from the m1 back in the bank. The m1 is great but it’s just a plinker.

Mossberg Or Ruger .22 and A Shotgun for me?

August 9th, 2010 by eranio

One of these questions are for me and the other is for my Brother.

My brother wants a .22 Rifle. He is new to the Idea of owning a gun. We both have shot many guns including 9mm, .223, and 12 Gauge.

My brother was looking at the Famous Ruger 10/22 and the Mossberg Plinkster. He likes the Idea of upgrading the Ruger 10/22 but he doesn’t like the Price. He knows that the Plinkster is Cheap and it is very Accurate but he doesn’t like how you can’t upgrade it. WHICH WOULD BE MORE OF A BANG FOR THE BUCK?

For me I like the Idea of a 12gauge shotgun. It will be for Hunting, home defense, and the regular shooting at fun stuff(Junk).

The Shotgun needs to be cheap(under 0). I was looking at the NewEngland Arms, Maverick and a few others. What is your guy’s taste?

What kind of shotgun should I get for roughly 200-300 dollars?

August 1st, 2010 by eranio

I want a relatively compact pump shotgun. I am pretty experienced with guns but I do not know much about shotguns. Could someone give me a crash course on shotguns. like the difference between 12 gauge and 20 gauge. and also any recommendations for a brand and model shotgun in my price range. Thank you.

What is the cost of a brand new 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun?

July 19th, 2010 by eranio

I was looking in this ad for a shotgun and i found this gun. It is as listed above. a turkey model, army camo color, and a 24" barrel. I want to know what a brand new one would cost to see if i’m getting a good price for this one.
I’m sorry you guys keep saying wal-mart. Our walmart dosn’t sell guns anymore. :( So that’s not an option for me. I"m just wondering what an average one would cost.

Which is a better shotgun, Mossberg 500, or Remington 870?

July 9th, 2010 by eranio

Despite owning several guns, a shotgun has never been among my arsenal. However, I plan to correct that shortly. The shotgun I purchase will have its primary role as a home defense gun, but I would like the option of changing barrels for hunting or skeet/trap shooting. I would also like some guidance in the 12 gauge versus 20 gauge debate – I would like if my wife and kids could wield this gun as well, so I’m sort of leaning toward 20 gauge, but I understand that 12 gauge is not only more powerful, but there is a greater variety of loads in that caliber.

VZ58 Rifle Plan, Sights and Frills

June 2nd, 2010 by eranio

The Vz. 58 is a 7.62mm  assault rifle designed and manufactured in Czechoslovakia and conventional into service in the late 1950s as the 7,62 mm samopal vzor 58 (“7.62mm submachine gun model 1958″), replacing the vz. 52 self-loading rifle and the 7.62x25mm Tokarev vz. 24  and vz. 26 submachine guns. The vz. 58 externally be similar to the Soviet AK-47 but is internally a completely different design based on a short-stroke gas piston.

Design details – Operating mechanism

The vz. 58 is a selective fire gas-operated weapon that bleeds expanding combustion gases generated in the container from the ignited cartridge through a port drilled in the barrel, 215 mm (8.5 in) from the board room, aperture into a unfilled cylinder located over the cask that have a short-stroke piston. The vz. 58 does not have a gas monitor and the full strength of the gas pressure is exerted on the piston head, propelling it toward the back in a single impulsive blow. The piston is driven back only 19 mm (0.7 in) when a take on on the piston rod butts against the seating and no extra group is workable. There is a light go back spring held between the piston bear and the seating which returns the piston to its ahead location.

The locking system features a falling breech lock hinged from the bolt and housed in the bolt carrier that contains two locking lugs which descend into and engage locking shoulders in the beneficiary’s internal guide rails. The weapon is unlocked by the short tappet-like stroke of the piston rod as it strikes the bolt carrier and drives it rearwards. After 22 mm (0.9 in) of unrestricted travel, an wedge-like surface on the bolt carrier moves under the breech locking piece and lifts it up and out of engagement with the locking recesses in the steel body.

Sights

The rifle’s iron sights consist of a fully adjustable front post and a tangent rear spectacle with a sliding notch with range denominations from 100 to 800 m, graduated every 100 m. Besides this, the left side of the rear prospect leaf is marked with the letter “U”, for snap shooting, firing at moving targets and night combat at ranges up to 300 m. The front picture base also serves as a mounting platform for the vz. 58 edged bayonet.

Vz 58 Accessories

Additional equipment supplied with the rifle includes: 4 spare magazines, a magazine pouch, vz58 bayonet and scabbard, cleaning brush, muzzle cap, oil bottle, unified sling, front view adjustment tool and a threaded blank-firing adaptor.

Functions of Holsters

May 29th, 2010 by eranio

Most holsters, like Fobus holsters, are in general designed to give protection to the handgun, secure retention, and ready access. Holsters are generally designed to be used with one hand. To be able to return the object to a holster one-handed, the holster must-be-made from stiff material that maintain the form, so that the holster won’t crumple when the object is cannot be able to give support since it is no longer inside.
New holsters may fit-inside a pocket, to put in stability and protection to the handgun, making it securely reliable and open than if it were in the only in the pocket.
Categories by method of wearing

Types of Popular holsters

“Outside the waistband” (OWB) or belt holsters are mostly used by law enforcers and military, and by citizens who cull to open carry. Belt holsters and can be concealed under a long, not tucked jacket or shirt.
“Inside the waistband” (IWB) holsters, which clip or mount to a belt and allow one to safely holster the firearm inside the pants offers the owner the option of folding a shirt on the firearm and holster.
“Shoulder holsters” consist of two straps connected in a manner comparable to a knapsack. Holsters on the shoulders are designed to position the handgun:

1. in a perpendicular position, with the barrel pointed generally toward the ground;

2. in a vertical position, with the barrel regularly pointed towards the top;

3. in a straight position, with the back of the wearer is usually the barrel is pointed.
The “belly band” holster is a wide elastic belt with a built-in holster, normally kept under shirts untucked, to facilitate access. To remain in place, a belly band have to be excessively tight; this is usually uncomfortable – it is the same as wearing a girdle.
“Pocket holsters” are used for tiny firearms, same as a mousegun or back up gun.
“Small of Back” holsters put the weapon directly over the center of the back, allocating for even big handguns to be carried with little printing. While both comfortable and stylish, by accident the user fall onto the weapon (such as in a close contact combat) serious injury of the spinal column (including paralysis) may occur.
“Groin holsters” carry the handgun oftentimes below the waistline around the 12:00 position. There are no body movement restrictions and not so many clothing limitations with this type of holster.
“Thigh holsters” are a popular military and police-item that holds the sidearm on the leg right where the hand naturally hangs, creating for moderately fast of drawing.  Today, this is with a drop leg PALS grid with a modular holster affixed.  Police and armed forces associates and personnel wear these when a large vest makes unusual belt carrying.
“Ankle holsters” present excellent concealment and are used constantly by law enforcement offiers who wish to carry a secondary weapon to support the regular firearm.

“Chest holsters” can be connected to MOLLE compatible vests and chest carriers. Like shoulder holsters, chest holsters are regularly not hard to draw from than belt holsters when the operator is seated inside a vehicle. Other, extinguished kinds of holsters are made to be kept inside a briefcase, day planners, purses and filofaxes, or even piece of clothing.

May 20th, 2010 by eranio

Also how old do you have to be in order to hunt?

Best choice for home defence: 9mm or shotgun?

May 20th, 2010 by eranio

I live in a town home type condo complex with a common wall on two sides of my unit. I’ve had a 9mm hand gun for a while and just inherited a double barrel shot gun.

For home defense, what would be the best choice, the 9mm hand gun or a double barrel shotgun?

I am concerned about accidently injuring a neighbor, the 9mm is sure to go though at least one if not two or more walls but it is only one bullet. Versus the shotgun were there would be 5-10 pellets in a buck shot type round or dozens of much smaller pellets in bird shot type round but what they might not penetrate as many walls.

Any opinions please.
speshal:
I live in California not Afghanistan
I don’t want to buy new weapons and I hope not to have to use them so I am stuck with the guns a I have: A 1918 Luger (9mm) and a double barrel 12 ga Shotgun; nitro speical made in 1924 by Ithica arms of New York (a duck hunting gun?)
I want to thank everyone for posting their replies, it’s been very informative! There were several answers I think are the best but haven’t quite decided which one just yet.

I think my best options are selecting the right type of ammo both guns; something like the Glaser safety slug for the 9mm and low brass/low recoil #8 type bird shot for the shotgun for home defense.

And then keep some high power 9mm rounds and 00 buck shot 3in for; insurrection, rioting and radio active zombies.

airsoft shotguns?

May 19th, 2010 by eranio

I want to get a cheap shotgun to use as a backup if my primary broke and I found 2 guns that seems to be decent for its price
They both cost the same. I have read reviews on both of them, and basically one of them is more accurate and goes farther but the other has shells so which one do you think I should get?

I need to Know something about shotguns?

May 19th, 2010 by eranio

We have different gauges in shotguns, wat exactly mean by gauges.
In hunting regulations its mentioned we have to use less than 10 gauges for hunting small animals and birds.

is it still 10 gauge guns available in the market.
In wisconsin less than 10 gauge is leagal for small game hunting it seems. I heard the Gauge is some thing to do with the diameter of the bore
