Looking for a quality shotgun. I don’t hunt, mainly for home defense. Something simple, not oversized. Simple design, simple operation. maybe pump action. Something with a "tactical" look, as opposed to a camo version. Ideas?

I happen to own a beautiful Weatherby 12 ga. auto shotgun that I’ve really never used. Just a beautiful collectible, with insufficient trade in value toward a new tactical home defense shotgun. Looking to replace barrel with the shortest available and legal barrel to fit the Centurion.

I have been researching for about 2 weeks now on a home defense shotgun. I have looked at everything from the cheaper end NEF Pardner to the more expensive Remingtons and Mossbergs. I was thinking later I may buy a longer barrel to go hunting with buddies. Are they all easy to convert? Not sure which one to go with. I have about a 5-$ 300 budget. Should I go used?
Did some more shopping around at the gunshow this last weekend and around town. Found a Maverick 88, 28in barrel at my local Academy for 9, saw the 18in barrel online for at Buds. Im still hesistant to go that route vs saving a lil more and just buying a combo kit from Mossberg?

I was looking to buy a shotgun today for home defense, and was wondering if the Mossberg 500 Tactical Cruiser 12 Gauge would be a good choice. Here is a picture of it.

I am not interested in any rifle, semi-auto, or revolver. I only want to know if this shotgun is an excellent choice or not?

I’m interested in buying a lightweight 20 ga. synthetic Remington express 870 or a 11-87 tactical for home defense. I see them on line and in stock. I live in NH and understand handgun FFL rules etc. Have had my firearms permit for nealy 35 years and renew it whenever it’s due, but don’t know the rules about shipping the shotgun to me at home or is it necessary to ship toa dealer.

Several years ago, on impulse I got a 12 gauge SxS with a 20" barrel. I have other shotguns so it’s still never been fired. I hate to admit it but, what would you use one for? For home defense I have a Benelli, for skeet I thought you’d need a 24"+ barrel.
Any suggestions?

Or is that just a figure of speech?
Most people use shotguns for home defense anyway?

I think I have an idea for a way to store a shotgun loaded and to make it tactically accessable for home defense… for all those people who prefer shotguns to pistols. Two questions: would you consider buying one for your house, and if so, how much would you be willing to pay for such a storage device?

Can they be used as bird shots? What about home defense? What can I use them for?
Thank you all for your answer’s! I just baught a Mossberg 12g for home defense because of how bad things are getting, and I didn’t really know the difference. So now I do! Thank you!

I’d like something I can easily change the barrel on for either trap or home defense.
I’ve been shooting rifle and pistol for years and now I want to get into trap.
Thanks

what are the most powerful pistol, rifle and shotgun in terms of raw power and rapid fire capability ( for home defense) that can be legally owned in Massachussetts.
NOTE: I HAVE NO CRIMINAL RECORD AND I DO NOT WISH TO COMMIT A CRIME.

There isn’t a good category for home defense, so I had to pick this one. Apologizes in advance.
I’m looking for recommendations on brand/model of shotgun for home defense. My skill with a pistol and rifle is intermediate, but I’m a complete beginner when it comes to shotguns.

What model shotgun is literally the best bang for your buck that is most effective at short range?
What ammo should be purchased with it?
Please give as many details as possible.
I have home defense in mind.
and hunting.
