I just bought a mossberg 500 12 gauge pump shotgun. It came with 2 barrels, one 28 inches, one 18 1/2 inches. On the 28 inch barrel it says modified choke. Can someone tell me what that means? On the 18 1/2 it doesn’t say anything about a choke. If someone could give me some information about this, I would really appreciate it.

I have an old 12 gauge high standard supermatic shotgun with a 30 inch barrel and a full choke? I was wondering if you can shoot size 7 1/2 or 8 shot out of it with good patterning. Any other size of shot would be very helpful for future shotshell selection. thank you.

Something that would be effective at, say, 20-30 feet from an 18 1/2 inch barrel but wouldn’t overpenetrate (I’d hate to hurt someone in a nearby room) and wouldn’t kick so hard that a man of moderate strength couldn’t handle it?

It has a Poly-Choke on it.* It has a five digit serial number in the first twenty-five thousands.* Please give me your source of information.* I don’t have access to Gunbroker or any other sources to look it up.* It has a 26 inch barrel.*
