Why is the a dial rod in my shotgun?

March 1st, 2011 by eranio

I just bought a brand new Mossberg 500 from Dunham’s (A sporting goods retail store). I picked it up with the barrel towards the ground, and when I put the barrel to the ceiling I herd something slide down it. So I took the barrel off and tipped it over and a 5-6 inch dial rod poked its head out of the front of the tube magazine. I had rube stoppers on it so it looked like it should be there but I’m new to guns and don’t know for sure can any one help?

looking to get a pump shotgun. help elaborate on differences?

February 9th, 2011 by eranio

Looking at the 12 gauge pumps – Maverick 88, Mossberg 500, Remington 870. I’ll consider others if you list them.

Specifically I want to know the differences between them. Is the felt-recoil about the same on all of them?

are they all equally reliable?

how about spread pattern? what is more accurate at 50 yards?

for fun, which one would you think would hold up longer in a post-apocalyptic ZombieLand?

is a Tristar Cobra tatical shotgun any good? How does it compare to a remington 870 or a Mossberg 500?

February 4th, 2011 by eranio

I am looking into buying a tactical shot gun 0-500. The tristar cobra tactical seems to have everything I need but I want to know if it is reliable or if I should just go with a Remington 870 tactical, a Mossberg 500 or 590, or a Benelli Supernova tactical any suggestions?

What is the modified choke on my shotgun please help?

January 23rd, 2011 by eranio

I just bought a mossberg 500 12 gauge pump shotgun. It came with 2 barrels, one 28 inches, one 18 1/2 inches. On the 28 inch barrel it says modified choke. Can someone tell me what that means? On the 18 1/2 it doesn’t say anything about a choke. If someone could give me some information about this, I would really appreciate it.

Which shotgun should I get for hunting?

January 17th, 2011 by eranio

I want to hunt turkey and deer. I found the mossberg 535 and the mossberg 500. Which is better for what I’m doing. I don’t want to spend more than 300 and want a good gun. I heard they are made of aluminum. Does it ever bend or break often. I need help, I’m a first time buyer.

Why a pump shotgun for home defense?

January 4th, 2011 by eranio

Im not asking why a shotgun, but why a PUMP shotgun. I am having a hard time deciding what to use for home defense. I already have a Saiga 12 coming. What are the Pro’s and cons of a Saiga 12 w/ intrafuse t6 stock vs a Mossberg 500 w/ pistol grip & buttstock

Mossberg 590 a good Pump/shotgun?

December 18th, 2010 by eranio

I know I just asked a question but I want to restate it… I’m 18 years old and want something for Home Protection that I can also ride around with under my seat for protection. A cop once told me that your Truck is an extension to your home and someone trying to break in your car can be shot just like someone trying to break in your house. If someone Throws a Brick at my window and breaks it, What will happen if I shoot them? (Just wondering). Anyways… What’s a good Pump/Shotgun for Protection at home and in car? I live in an apartment and they do allow weapons here. It’s kind of like a project and people break in cars and things all the time around here. I’m moving in 2 months when lease is up. Thanks in advance and please try to stay in rance of 0-0 for a good gun thanks. 5 star best answer.
Where can I get a Mossberg 500 in New Orleans, La? After reading about them and seeing the youtube videos I want one now, I’m still looking at some others guns as well though.

I'm looking to buy a shotgun.?

December 8th, 2010 by eranio

I’m looking to buy my first shotgun, and from what I’ve read I think I’m leaning towards a Mossberg 500 or a Remington 870. Any thoughts or comments on which one to go with? Also what should I be looking to pay for both? In the local gun store near me I have the opportunity to purchase an almost new Mossberg 500 w/ a long and short barrel kit for 5, is this a good deal or should I be looking for a better deal?

which is the better way to store my shotgun?

December 6th, 2010 by eranio

When I’m not using my shotgun (Mossberg 500) I load a Snap-Cap in the chamber and pull the trigger so i can disengage the hammer without damaging the firing pin. But, when I do this the slide can be racked without having to press the slide release button/lever. So I’m just wondering which way is this supposed to stored? ready to fire with the slide locked or hammer disengaged but with the slide unlocked?

I reassembled my Mossberg 500 410ga. and i have leftover pieces.?

December 4th, 2010 by eranio

I recently received a Mossberg 500 410ga. from a friend. When i got this shotgun it was in need of a thourough cleaning so like i have done countless times with my other firearms i set it on my table and got my cleaning kit, and tools out. It was not completely foreign to me this being my first mossberg shotgun but it definitely wasn’t as simple as my Rem. 870. After removing the barrel, forearm, firing pin, lift, and other parts i noticed a couple pieces that had fallen out after i removed a screw. I had never seen pieces like these but i didn’t worry about them very much. After i had cleaned each part of the gun i began to reassemble it, I didn’t realize until the gun was reassembled that the two pieces which fell out were still on the table. I have no idea what these are for but i do know where they go. They came from inside the shell ejection port and were held in by a screw. what i don’t know however is how they are supposed to fit in there. One is smaller than the other and i don’t know which one goes on top and which goes on the bottom. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

When dissasembling your shotgun, do you ever have trouble depressing the ejector when sliding the bolt back in?

December 3rd, 2010 by eranio

I had so much trouble pushing that ejector against the side to let the bolt back in. It’s in such an akward position to press. Any ideas? Or is it like that for everyone.

It’s a mossberg 500

Can you still shoot bird shot from a rifled barrel on a shotgun?

December 2nd, 2010 by eranio

I have a Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel. Is it safe to shoot bird shot from it or do I have to get a replacement barrel?
