I think i would prefer a 12 gauge, but I am not set on it. I plan on using it to hunt pheasant. Also, I will plan on trap shootin as a hobby. I may even compete. Anyone think they can point me the right direction? Big 5 is having a sale on a mossberg 12 ga 590 for 369.99… are mossberg shotguns quality? They also have a remi 12 ga 7 shot for the same price. Looking for a cheap reliable pump action 12Gauge shotgun for deer hunting under 500 bucks.
I’m looking at the Remington 870 Express Shotgun and at a few mossberg shotguns.
I think I might go with the Remington 870 Express Deer Pump Shotgun not sure yet though.

I was looking at mossberg shotguns and found one i really like but not sure if they are really reliable guns i have never had one before and i dont want to buy a non reliable gun

Assume some of the popular Mossberg shotguns like all-purpose 500 or 535 (they use Accu-Choke tubes), or 835 (uses Accu-Mag tubes). I provide the link to Mossberg list below.

My question is which tube to install for self-defense. You could consider two cases: one inside home, and one outside. I would assume the best would be the most open tube, Mossberg lists "skeet" as the most open. I assume you cannot use all-purpose shotguns designed for choke tubes without a choke tube installed. How come Mossberg does not have a straight cylinder tube with no constriction? Skeet is the most open tube.

Another factor to consider is buckshot size or birdshot size. Assume 12ga. I plan to have 1-2 birdshot shells in the front, followed by buckshots with increasing pellet sizes up to the max 5 shells in the magazine.

I’ve been looking around for a shotgun and found one i like but i cant find the price of the gun. I would appreciate it if someone could give me an average price on the gun or around the cost of mossberg shotguns.
